Hey all! Many of you here know me for my avid car spotting, catalogued mainly in the Denver Spotters' Thread and the Atlanta Spotters' Thread here on F-chat. On page 78 of the July 2009 issue of Automobile magazine, there is a nice article about me written by Preston Lerner about car spotting in Atlanta. Preston came with me for a weekend of car spotting and covered it very well. There are some great photos including several of mine. There's even a quick shout-out to F-chat in the article! Hope everyone gets a chance to read it and I hope everyone enjoys it. Best wishes, Doug
My friend and fellow car spotter Joe scanned the images from the article. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Enjoy! I bought the magazine at the airport and read the article on the plane, I was wondering which member it was. Must have been a cool experience for you.
Couple of questions............ Are there any women who actually think this behaviour is normal? Is exotic car stalking something that needs professional intervention? Just kidding......................maybe. Dave
I read the article. It was very interesting, Doug. Keep up the great work. I always love reading the Atlanta Spotters Thread! --Grant
Oh, come on, Dave. Tell me you don't enjoy "spotting" your own beautiful cars in the garage everyday! I'm sure Doug's passion will eventually lead to Ferrari ownership and then he'll spend all of his time driving around so others can "spot" him, lol!
I actually mentioned my time working at Ferrari of Denver but they chose not to play up that angle. Now you specifically, well... they didn't want to devote any magazine space to lowly Volkswagen owners when they could instead profile an Audi owner like me.
Hey, I've gravitated from a lowly R32 driver into Audi ownership...can I haz an article written about me too?
I used to subscribe to Automobile Magazine, but let my subcription lapse, but when I saw the Lambo on the cover, I bought the July issue over the weekend. I saw the pictures that been posted here and was wondering who it was on F-Chat. Great Job and congrats to you.
I bought an '09 A4 with the sport package back in January. It's nice but not as fun to drive as the R was.
Nice job! I found the article last weekend, then found this thread...didn't know there was such and avid spotter on F-chat.
Doug, I have to tell you that the I found and joined F-chat because I read the article. The first thing I did after joining was look up all of your posts to see your spots. Your pics are great. Congrats and thanks! David
Hey i just read that article last night and it reminded me of the trip i took to Miami last winter. While I was there I made a list of all of the exotics I saw and I just thought I would share it. Acura NSX Aston Martin DB7 4 Aston Martin DB9's 3 Aston Martin DB9 Volantes Aston Martin V8 Vantage 2 Audi R8's 5 Bentley Azure Convertibles 14 Bentley Continental Flying Spurs 28 Bentley Continental GTs 3 Bentley Brooklands 2 BMW Z4 M Coupes 3 BMW M6's 5 BMW M5's 9 BMW M3's (I only put the BMW's because I am a giant fan and already have 2. I'm only 18) Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 2 Ferrari 360 Modena's 3 Ferrari 360 Spyders 5 Ferrari F430's 8 Ferrari F430 Spyders Jaguar E-Type Lamborghini Gallardo 4 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyders Lamborghini Murcielago Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Spyder Lotus Elise 6 Maserati Gran Turismos 3 Maserati GranSports 13 Maserati Quattroportes Maybach 62S Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster Porsche Carrera GT 13 Rolls Royce Phantoms 2 Shelby Cobras Toyota Supra I saw all of these driving on the streets in five days. My family kept laughing at me for constantly writing these down but they all know how obsessed I am with cars.
Jeez Derek, that was quick! You must've had the R32 only about six months - and for at least one of those months, it was a Dodge Caliber! Thanks David! I'm glad you enjoyed the article and the spots - there really have been some memorable ones and I think Preston Lerner, the author of the article, did a great job capturing the essence of the whole thing. Thanks! LA is very high on my list of places I'd love to car spot - among London, Dubai, Moscow, and Miami. Thanks! Glad everyone enjoyed it!
