About a year ago, I was reading in F1 magazine that Antonio Banderas was in talks with Aryton Senna sister to do a motion picture about his life. Ever since then, I have not heard anything about it. Does anyone know anything about this. I would appreciate your input.

I heard the same thing, but i have not heard anything since. My guess is that the project got killed, but that's only my guess.

I vaguely remember something like this. If I remember correctly this first raised when Stallone tried to get Bernie's approval for an F1 movie which failed and turned into Drivel with the likely Memo Merino

Believe it or not, but the Sly movie was supposed to be the story of Enzo Ferrari's life.

Thank God Sly didn't make a movie on F1. Driven was probably one of the worst movies I have seen in my life.

Given that the good sinking ship CART were hanging a good deal of their fortunes on the success of "Driven" at the time, one would have thought that they would have insisted on more say in the movie since the production certainly disrupted the 1998 season.

"Driven" was so stupid, it only goes to reason that Bernie was wise enough to read the script and see that the 50-something Stallone had himself written into the script as a top driver which, in itself, would have been a mockery of F-1.

Antonio Banderas was going to produce and star in the the Senna movie project but aside from that announcement, nothing seems to have come
    from it.

Here again, a 50-something in the title role never really made sense, Senna's family and Bernie likely had sway in the decisions as well.

Actually Bernie was on board with the project all of the way. The deal fell apart because of some access issues Sly had with Bernie. He simply wouldn't give him any room to do his movie stuff where CART changed things around to accomodate them. Bernie is just an ****** and Sly said something to that effect when interviewed about it later. That being said Driven did suck pretty badly.

I heard something similar, but didn't Bernie want to see the final cut of the movie just to make sure there wasn't anything in the movie that was not suppost to be there? In addition I remember they interviewed Sly right before the release of Driven and he said this is the best movie he has done since Rocky. What a bunch of B.S. .

I have a hard time watching any Stallone movie because he spent the Vietnam years hiding out in Switzerland. Then he makes the movies about the guy going back to Vietnam to rescue somebody. I just don't like the guy.

I know that it's all acting, making money and so forth, but I find the guy to be too much of a phony for my taste. I didn't see "Driven," and it sounds like I didn't miss much.

I agree. Plus the guy is an #$% hole. I remember my buddy Bryant at Ferrari of Beverly Hills was telling me, Sly call Giacomo of FOB asking for a 360 spyder, right when they were coming out. Giacomo said "there is a waiting list, but for sure we will get you a car." Sly made a big deal about it and asked for the first car. Anyways Giacomo called the factory and Sly's enquiry of getting the first 360 through FOB went all the way to upper management at Ferrari(Luca). To make a long story short, Giacomo got him the first spyder at sticker. After all that, Sly turns around and sells the car to personal friend more than sticker price. Bryant, says they will never deal with him again.
