    Many hardening or otherwise processes involved in producing the final component causes things to distort ... I'm sure he's good with the hammer.

    Even cranks when they are nitrided distort and need to be straightened.

    I like your ingenuity. I typically attempt such things but end up at sears looking for the appropriate tool

    Incredible story so far...

    I wish we had more pics and more background.

    Even if I found this car for free I wouldn't have the skill or guts do to what you have done. Are you a mechanic or engineer by trade?

    KNowing what you know now, would you have still bought it?

    What do you project as your completion date?

    If I could go back in time I wouldn’t have given the seller his asking price. I saw a red Ferrari with beautiful lines under all that dirt and “she” called to me and said, “I can again be the beautiful thoroughbred I once was with your skill and vision. Help me, take me home”. It was like picking out the sick puppy cowering in the corner of a litter and taking it home. You know you shouldn’t take the sick one, but those eyes. You feel sorry for it. It just needed me to save it. Hell, I didn’t have any idea as to its value. I’ve will have more dollars invested, (flushed down the toilet) than the vehicle is worth, and it still isn’t running. I’ve yet to address the interior issues. (Sticky/gooey parts, broken door panel, driver’s window issue, and who knows what else I’m going to uncover.) Yes, when I get it running it will be beautiful again and in good shape, but at a co$t. I’m glad I’m not paying for my labor, as I don’t think the national debt could cover it. I got the cams back last week, but I haven’t been motivated to continue working on it. I opened the one box that had the 1-4 intake camshaft just to see how the sensor trigger wheel was marked for re-installation. I haven’t opened the other boxes to look at the other three. I assume they are in there as there is something heavy inside.

    It’s getting close to sand season at Glamis, and I’m trying to get two cars running and finish building an enclosed trailer. Not to mention that I’ve got a new engine getting ready for the dyno. So the barn car has been put on the back burner for awhile.

    mackb61 are you in Norcal by chance? I thought I remembered reading that earlier on. I've done some major surgery on some other 348's in the area. If you need a hand just PM me and we'll get things right without killing to much more moolah.

    Dude it a car you love working on cars so its ok, Maybe you paid theguy to much but so what Have fun with it and you know its all done and you did the work.
