anyone confirm the rumor that kimi owes part of sauber now? If so that could be a motivation to go there too.
It does not sound bad, but lets be clear. He has been downgraded and he found his own ride with Sauber. He was released. No longer wanted by Ferrari. That should keep things in perspective no matter what Kimi says about his 'new drive'. This change is over due. Anyone looking at this objectively would be of the same mind-set. Kimi has not been good enough. That is not the end of the world. Charles appears to be an exciting talent and worthy of Tifosi support! I look forward to seeing him rise to the challenge and push Vettel potentially.
He has zero ownership, nor has there been any discussion about transitioning into a management role after he's done driving. /F1 Drivers Pre-race Conference
Yes seems to be a strong rumour that Kimi has gone to replace Ericsson and Gio will come join Sauber. Even with manager ownership, surely they've gathered enough evidence that he just isn't F1 material (he wasn't showing that in GP2 either).
Although Giovinazzi was vice-champion at F2 right just in his first year, he doesn't have anywhere near the career results of Leclerc or Verstappen. Still, it's better to give him a chance than continuing with that useless Ikea wardrobe. Other drivers that should be considered for Sauber are Vandoorne, Felipe Nasr, Wehrlein, and Felix Rosenqvist. I also think that Robin Frijns is another very talented driver that unfairly didn't get a chance in F1.
New Ferrari recruit Chuckie hits the wall in P1... Seb clatters the Wall in P2... Kimi fastest in P2... Wonder if Ferrari aren’t thinking they punted the wrong driver...
Nasr is still signed up for IMSA so I don't see him coming back. He's on a very successful team. Ocon and Wehrlein would be my picks. I think McLaren killed Vandoorne's F1 career.
With Ferrari's continued incorrect calls and terrible strategy. Seems Kimi, as always, is very smart and knows exactly what he's doing leaving by Ferrari. Ferrari needs a major overhaul in Management. I feel Seb and the kid are gonna have a painful year next year.
+1 What I don't get about the Leclerc decision...if Ferrari wants to ''punish'' Vettel...why not sign Ricciardo or Verstappen?
Because vettel is fragile. DR already unraveled Vettel when both at RB when DR was clearly #2. Verstappen would wipe the floor with Vettel and expose even more weakness in the Ferrari team putting failure clearly on the teams shoulders like Alonso did to McLaren.
But if they don't want to hurt his fragility, keep Kimi in....Ricciardo was available. I just don't get it.
Exactly. Also, let's not forget another "parameter": if Jules would still be with us, the team would be built around him today. The longer I think about it, the more I feel that Vettel was second choice...
