The Boat House is nice and not too far from the estate. Prices range from 15-25 I think. What kind of food are you looking for?

Don't forget Wild Wings, Jeremy takes us there all the time, and then there is the pizza place

However, for Romace, try the Grove Park Inn, three resturants, the Spa, then or cource the R.Lauren Sheets and spreads in the opulent rooms. You lucky devil...

One of the best place in town is Rezza's, and it's literally a stone's throw away from the estate. Rezza is a family friend, and his creations are the best in town IMO. Lunch can be done for ~$10 a person at his Enoteca bistro attached to the main dining room. Fare there includes panini in your choice of vegetables, roasted pulled pork, and perhaps turkey as well. The crab cake is *superb* there, as is whatever soup he has that day. And if you do lunch, you absolutely have to share the truffle fries. French fried potatoes (in peanut or saffron oil if I recall correctly), drizzled with truffle oil and dusted with.... I was going to say nutmeg or cinnamon but neither sounds correct. Either way, they're phenomenal, and served wrapped in butchers paper in an ice cream sundae-esque wire goblet.

If you go for dinner and want a fun treat, then call ahead and book one of the Chef's Tables. These are located *inside the kitchen* which is in the northernmost point of the building. It's not some nasty table tucked in the corner, there is a window view to the street. It just happens to also be in the kitchen. It's good fun. The main dining room is more subdued, low light and muted noise. Anything from the menu is fantastic, it will make you come back for more.

Seriously, I would go to Rezza's before anywhere else.

If you want/need any special tips on what to do/see when on the Estate, let me know. From horseback riding to rafting to biking, it's all there but most people don't know about it. I might be able to help arrange something in that regard as well. And if you do bring the Mondial there are plenty of great roads here :) Just don't valet it at the Inn on Biltmore. And don't ask how I know.

The Bistro is more modern, upscale fare. The chef is changing around the menu, don't get the crab cake. He hasn't found a great recipe for that yet. The chicken tenders and french fries are really good, though, haha.... If they still have their tomato festival menu, you can order off of that and be very pleased. The prices there are typical resort fine dining proces- i.e. too high.

Not my fav... but it depends on what environment you want. It is a trendier little place that is literally right outside the Estate's main entrance. Parking isn't the greatest at that location(right on a main interseciton in biltmore).

Wow, I have to admit I never think about food when I'm there. The roads are just too good -- really world class.

... the road up and over the tunnel on Tunnel Road
    ... Town Mountain Road
... Blue Ridge Parkway -- south to Cherokee
    ... NC151
    ... US276
    ... NC215
    ... US129 (Deal's Gap)
    ... NC143 (Cherohala Skyway)

Try the French resturant, Har Dees. Or the Irish pub, McDonalds. Far trendier.

I ate at Tupelo Honey Cafe last night while I was in Asheville NC. It's more of a Southern food dining with an uptown twist and the price is actually pretty low. $12-20 a Plate.
Also suggest Vincenzo's Ristorante & Bistro on North Market Street. Downstairs they have a piano playing which is a more relaxed enviroment. If you like a more proper style then go upstairs which is the Bistro part.
