Re the Maxxis on the T Series ,can't wear 'em out so-I'm thinking of putting new set on her and just chuck them out every year and buy a new set
Yes they are modern compounds and XWXs on are a no brainer in an OHOS. And they’re certainly not crap, the suspension was set up with those tyres in mind not Chinese cheapskate tyres

This is a very good tyre for your classic, TWI of 180, made in France, what's not to love? A bit more variety in terms of sizes than the XWX: https://www.stuckey.com.au/Tyres/Classic-Tyres/ProdID/155
And I was at the factory when my business partner took delivery of a new 280SL in 1977. It was definitely not on XWX's.
