    Dear Ferrari colleagues,

I had posted a thread in the 400 forum where someone suggested to search for help in this forum here as well.
In my 400i one of the ashtray inserts is missing and I'm looking for cross reference about the original soure, being convinced that it has not been designed and manufactured by pininfarina or Ferrari. it must have been "borrowed" from a series production car like many other items as well.

Anyone has an idea where to look for such an insert?

Thanks in advance and kind regards

    Peter

You might also ask someone HERE, at Tom Yang's restoration site.

A lot of folks who restore V12's from FChat, are also on Tom's site.

not 100% sure but it sure does look like the ashtrays on the E12 chassis BMW's vintage '74~'81. 5-series. but i agree most of the stuff is sourced from 3rd parties who are not going to build X_nth variations.

sometimes a trip to the local european wrecking yard will yeild lots of information and great finds for stuff that is cross used.

I believe that's the same ashtray as in the rear of a GT4, also...but we're still in Ferrari territory there, and that probably doesn't help you much.

There *are* a couple of FChat members from Australia who have GT4 parts cars, though. One is "moretti" - can't remember the other. If you can get in touch with them, they might be able to help you out!

as noted, Ricambi...or the American "Ferrari wrecking yards" are GT Car Parts in Arizona or T. Rutland's in Georgia.
