(Can you believe I posted this n the wrong thread), DoH......... Promised you a decision today.....Here it is then, The Decision....... The GTO is Stopping, The DB4 GT is moving on, (but staying in the family), & I am now actively looking for the mythical beast known as the 275/4 GTB ! I have just made arrangements to Fly to Zurich, Where, I will be viewing a Rosso 275/4 GTB (S/n 8423 - '66 vintage), next weekend with a view to making an offer if I'm satisfied with condition and history etc. (Don't worry I'm taking someone with me who really knows what he's doing). However, The GTO is stopping on sale and if I get an offer I can't refuse then she'll have to go - Wife made me promise, She's also giving up her prized SL55 for a 2nd hand AMG SLK32, with a promise that she gets a new SLK when it's launched later this year. Fair I suppose ??? OK, so there it is guys - Let me just thank you all for your input, You all DEFINATELY had an influence on my decision one way or the other. My Stable will soon be complete, although I really would like another 512BB - Fabulous Car ! ATB, Steve
Steve Glad to hear your gonna keep the GTO. I was wondering of you could post some pics of the Aston. DB4 just happens to be my favourite Aston of all time! Fell in love with it when a guy i worked with started using his as a daily driver. Fell in love with it instantly.
Nice 1 , Steve. There really wasn't a bad decision you could make given the choices availiable....Look fwd to meeting you and seeing 288 at Bruntingthorpe. Regards Tony
Adnaan, I'm gobsmacked someone used a DB4 Everyday !!!! My Dad's is a Zagato, (1 of only 14 in the World), But there were only 75 regular GT's made too. I do have some pic's but here's a link to the Aston Website that tells you all about 73 GYL - It's Serial Number is 0186/R and is really well known in the UK. http://www.astonmartins.com/np6c/db4gt_zag.htm Regards, Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login
Steve Beautiful car! I didnt realise it was a Zagato you had. The day he bought his car into work we were all shocked. I was contracting in Luxembourg at the time, and and this new contractor started (another Brit), turned up in his DB4. Drove it all the way from the UK. He had it as his daily driver for about 3/4 months before he purchased a smart car for daily use. But for those months it was great to see the DB4. Shortly before I left he offered to sell the car to me for about £25K. The car was in good condition, the interior was a little worn but nothing major. However the gearbox was playing up and needed a new gear made. Other than that it was sound. I will always remember the day I turned down the chance to own a DB4....
Steve, I am so glad you are keeping contact with that db4, the zagato is such a beautiful car. What was your first 512 like? Phil
Phil, I concur, I love the Aston range of cars, They lost their way a bit in the 70's/80's but have, and in deed are, producing some brilliant looking cars. Looking forward to the DB 9. My 512 was an absolute peach, She was my 3rd FCar but my 1st love, the noise, the shape, the performance all fantastic, Which is probably why I go all soppy at the sight of one nowadays. I am no way in a position to do it now, But I feel sure that sometime in the future I will have another ? - Just a question of when ! ATB, Steve
