Either this car is smokin' or... 80 Euro GTBi QV (?) for $40,000! Last serviced in 2001 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220030039230 I know that asking prices have risen quite a bit in the last few months but I'm hoping not by this much.
people throw stuff on ebay for ridiculous prices all the time. doesn't cost anything. does not reflect any rise in actual sales prices.
The recent issue of the Ferrari Market Letter Asking Price Index shows a 17.40% increase over six months ago for a 308 GTB QV and 15.9% for GTS QVs. They're now in the high 30s/low40s price range ($29.5k for a 308 GTB). Does the FML use eBay as a source of data?
This guy dreams. And if he will ever find someone who pays that amount of money, really there is something wrong out there. Ciao Eugenio
Hurry up and drive it over 100k, then you can list it as a rare under 5000 mile example Maybe having "Bhagwan Bob" as a previous owner elevates this to a celebrity car.
The car is actually a 1985 QV Euro. It is priced at what I would expect for a concours condition for the claimed mileage of 24K. Based on his description, the car needs work. Major service due, aftermarket switch to control the headlights, quite a bit of front spoiler and seat wear, needs tires, no jack or tools, and is unwilling to part with the original service records. On the other hand if everything else is in good shape and the car passes a PPI with good results, I wouldn't think a price around $30K would be unreasonable.
Looks like he put in the wrong title. Everywhere else it says 1985...and it's a Euro version. Does not look like they kept it up though.
Did you read this? "There is a small imprint on the left front fender where I stood on the car to change a lightbulb in the garage." DOH!
Seriously, who steps on a Ferrari to change a light bulb? (there's a joke in there somewhere). But I mean, is this guy to lazy to get the keys and back the car up just a bit to get to the garage light bulb? 2 things I would infer: 1) The guy is lazy in general and would I trust that he gave the car so much as an oil change? 2) He doesn't respect the car enough to think stepping on it would be acceptable. If he doesn't respect it, why would I think he would take care of it? Anyway, I didnt click on the link, it just strikes me as odd that someone would use thier Ferrari as a step ladder. It's called "patina" and it's worth a premium. They are hard to find nice. The '89 328 is a little easier to find (because they were often bought as investments), but based on the time it took me to find mine I can see how someone would pay a premium for a really good 308. Now, whether a boot print on the fender really adds to the charm of this one is arguable...
what a freaking idiot. i would not buy it either, just for this one sin, much less all the other crap thats wrong with it.
I'm still current, that's where I got the info for post #3 of this thread Their site doesn't mention where they obtain data for the API. I'd like to assume they don't use eBay based on the amount of scams that seem to occur there regularly. From Volume 27 Number 22 "The FML A.P.I. was intended as a barometer showing where the market was headed, which is why figures from the past are also shown. That was important when it was first created because prices were changing rapidly. Maybe its a fallacy, but I believe as asking prices go so go selling prices. If the A.P.I. figure for your particular favorite model has gone up 20 percent in the past two years then there is a good chance that selling prices have likewise gone up 20 percent, and of course the opposite is true." This car is probably a decent project for someone but it's the $40,000 starting bid price that got my attention.
I'm with you Branko. Forza October issue has a market report on V8's. They report a $5000 increase in prices on most models between '05 and '06.
FYI - This car was advertised in the FML page 15 of issue V31 #7 - April 8, 2006. description was - "1985 Euro Prod. Red with tan interior. One owner since imported. Reasonable offers entertained. 37,850 km $40,000."
2 threads on this car.... it is a 1985 if you read the description...... Good value I'd say, you can also change light bulbs with it.......
Well I used to think I'd never list my car if I sell it so you guys can chop it to bits but this thread confirms that. I've already got three interested parties so I'll go to them first. Stood on the car to change bulb....yeah, it was stupid. Anyone here driven over 100mph on a public road. Yeah, that was smart. But I'd like the poeple here whove NEVER done something stupid in their whole life, and then realized afterward "WOW, was I dumb" to please stand up......just what I thought silence. If he was a member here you'd all be patting him on the back for "being honest" about the car. But hey, this is Ferrarichat and nothing less than a bare metal strip down and respray for $15,000 will even be considered for fixing this small dent! In fact, you'd better replace the whole front end. If Norwoods serviced the car as he claims, he has all the receipts (& Norwood can confirm all this if you ask them!) and other than the tools/books/jack and the small dent in the front, what is really wrong with this car? Not much. Euro 308 have a strong pull for many poeple and I'd say it's worth at least $35k. Considering a no stories US car (with tools and no dent) in similar condition would easily sell for $40k, I'd say this one is at least worth close to $35k. In the end, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Sorry for the rant, but sometimes you guys are little over the top.
I said much the same brudda! A one owner Texas euro car with some characters in the history! You getting out of yours? Ours are so well kept an ad in the Chronicle would move it out the door! Or as trade in over at FoH! Watch ya gonna get instead? Good pic in the A/C thread of your helper!
