What would you do.....?

  1. I will call regardless of what info is missing if I am interested in the car

  2. I won't call unless the price is in the ad as well as all the other info

Just curious as to the thoughts here regarding "whether or not" having an asking price posted on a dealer's website influences your decision to contact said dealer that has a car in which you may be interested.

FWIW the prices are always posted on my site....I am just curious as I see a lot of dealers who do not do this.

I always think that if there is no price they are probably going to ask some outrageous amount. I'd most likely pass it up unless it was exactly what I wanted.

Having a price tells me if we are in the same ballpark. Also, if they don't list the asking price it seems like a sales tactic to require them to call. I don't like that............

I *never* call without a price, unless it was a ridiculously rare car to find (for example, a yellow diablo SV with black interior and less than 2k miles).

For something like a 360 in any color, I wouldn't call because there are enough out there not to have to make the call to those that don't give out a price.

In my experience, not giving a price is so that the salesman can talk to you and try to "sell" you on the car. They won't do this without getting your name/phone # and will be calling you for weeks afterwards trying to sell you on the car (or another car). It's too much hassle and too much exposure to open yourself up to just to get a price.

If I ever do call for a price, I will absolutely not give them my name or phone number. I say "I am not looking for a sales pitch, I just want the price". If they refuse to give it, I would cross them off my list of "dealers who I would deal with".

I think its better to have the price on the website, though it might eliminate some people interested I suppose.

I sell advertising to dealers in the truck industry and I always try to tell them to price their used equipment. There are reports that show that there is a high percentage of people(@38+%) that will not call if no prices are listed. I am one of those people.
I don't think that there is anyone that will not call if a dealer lists the asking prices. They may be too high for the buyer, but he won't say that he will not call because the vehicles are priced.

No price tells me the car is a hard sell. I don't even ask.

If they aren't willing to post mileage then that clinches it.
