I am going to Italy on thursday to look at a 360. If I buy it it will be my first Ferrari.
The car is a 99, 30 000 miles car with F1 gearbox, the owner has sent me a lot of
pictures and we have had a good mail correspondance.
Last week he told me that the car had been standing for one week and the battery went flat. After charging the ASR and ABS lights were lit. Some days after they extinguished
Now I got a mail and he is telling me that the lights are on again.

Is this a serious problem, after searching on the forum it seems that it is a bad battery that is the course of the problem. What do you think?
    You advice is much valued.

I don't have a lot of experience with this. On one occasion, when I was changing my gearbox oil I ran the car with wheels running while up on stands and this caused the two lights to come on. In my case the lights stayed on until I went through a couple of drive cycles and then they went off and have stayed off.

If I was thinking of buying a car with warning lights on I'd want the problem sorted before I closed the deal. It's just not worth buying trouble!

On my car the lights were both on, it probably brakes just fine.. however..

You will need a diagnosis to determine WHY the lights are on. One of 3 things or so:

    1) The ABS/ASR pump/ecu unit could be bad
    2) an acceleration sensor could be bad
    3) a cog sensor in one of the wheels could be bad

check the fuses and make sure they're not loose.. also check the fluid levels.. I'd get it checked on an SD2 before you buy it if possible..

    Good luck!

    Trust me on This one!!
They didn't charge the battery, they jump the damm car!
As a result of jumping the car they mess the voltage regulator inside the denso alternator.
The car will charge ok but you won't notice it until you need high power requirements.
    Let me know your results.

There is a Ferrari recall on early 360's (some 99 and 2000) regarding the ABS/ASR electronic module being defective. This would cause the warning lights to come on. My 99 360 has the same problem, but as incredible as it may seem, FNA says the SN of my vehicle is not on their recall list.
