The VIN has nothing to do with the assembly #. If you read that top secret document in the glove box known as the owners manual you will find the location of the assembly # shown on page 1.2.

If people will actually read that thing they will be far better equipped to enjoy their car and they will be far less likely to come here and ask only to be given some of the huge amount of disinformation I see provided here every day. These cars and their owners suffer a great deal from that and every day I see people fed up with a perfectly good car because of it. If I can get owners to become knowledgeable enough about their car to have a good ownership experience by utilizing the good, quality, accurate information they have at their fingertips rather that relying on other, questionable sources they will be far better off and I will have succeded.
