I don't necessarily love this announcement, but I guess I do LIKE it. It does make sense, and AMG certainly knows how to make powerful, high tech, torquey V8's, which is what most suits Aston's character.

The part that worries me most is where it says Aston wants to use Mercedes' "expertise" in electrical systems and architecture as well. By most accounts the recent Astons have been very reliable in this regards, and as everyone knows the German makers don't currently have the best reputation in this arena. I don't want to see Astons become cars people are terrified to own out of warranty like they are with modern Mercedes, Audi, etc.

perhaps makes sense in theory, but sad in practise IMO

how many AM buyers were motivated, even if in part, because it's NOT a German "big three" offering?!

For better or worse, this was almost a given when Investindustrial bought their 37.5% stake in AM earlier this year. They had a relationship with Mercedes and AMG through ownership of Ducati before selling Ducati off to free up cash to buy into AM last year. Recent financial news has noted that Investindustrial and MBZ still have a close working relationship. The twin-turbo V8 for the S63 is tuned to 577hp is a likely candidate for AM IMHO. Bob H
