Has anyone bought one? I saw one yesterday and man is it good looking...and sounds better than any post Ferrari 365GTC/4 I have ever heard. I called the dealer and they are asking around $165k for the them. I want one bad.

Do you think they will depreciate that much that quickly?

We just got our first two standard gearbox Db9's in this week. For me, a lot more fun to drive then the paddle boxes.

I did. It was pretty cool. The segment on the GT3 on that same show was just awesome though.

I was one of the earlier deliveries for a paddle box one, but it just didn't sit right. Local dealer has a 6sp now, and I'll report back. I think I did a write-up on the car (paddle box) vs 550 some time back.

Why do you think it will fall so much? Remeber, AM is launching a AMV8 at around $100k. Plus, isn't the DB9 a pretty popular car?

A car magazine (forgot which one and it's not listed in the scan) recently posted 0-100-0 data for a number of cars, including the Vanquish S and DB9 manual.

    For comparison:
    MODEL: 0-100 100-0 0-100-0
    DB9 10.24 4.55 14.92
    Vanquish S 10.47 4.73 15.45

Again, I don't see why anyone would buy a Vanquish over a DB9.

I drove one about a month ago. I have a Maser GranSport so I have something similar in concept. Me personally, and I'm not being biased here, I just don't see an extra $70k over my car for the DB9. Don't get me wrong, its a very strong package inside and out, but its just not worth $180K.

First of all the great exhaust note, which is arguably one of the best I've heard, very old school racer like, only kicks in when your at about 3000-3500 revs, in such a big engine your going pretty fast to hear it. So just driving around town, when you want to hear the exhaust, you hear silence, you really have to jump on the thing to hear the exhaust flap open up and when you do its just fleeting because you're going way over the speed limit alreadym and have to slow down. Its really more of an autobahn car. Just like Jeremy Clarkson did in that Top Gear episode. I'd love to drive it across country at a high rate of speed, but if its just an occassional car you will drive around you just won't get the potential out of it.

Its engine has very progressive, linear power. You do feel pressure in your back when you hammer the throttle, but its not a viscious type of acceleration like you have in a 550/575 Maranello.

The fit and finish is fantastic, but I thought my GranSport dash was just as custom looking for $70k less.

The bottom line is I absolutely love the car, but like others have said above, get one used, because theres competition out there thats just as good and a much lower price.

Based on the second hand market for the Vanquish, I'd expect the DB9 to hold its value rather well.

The DB9 is a gorgeous GT car. It may not be as fast as a Maranello but its aiming at a different market.

DB9 is 2nd on the list for what I want. (1st is F430)

After reading V8 Vantage will be produced more than combined Vanquish & DB9 for 2005, I am more interested in DB9. I'm just afraid to take a big hit on depreciation, so I'm just waiting & see what happens in the next 12 months at least. When I posted on DB9 about 3 months ago, I got similar responses like this thread. So, nothing seems to change yet!

If you're afraid of taking a big hit on depreciation, you shouldn't be looking at any current AM. The AMV8's may hold some given their lower price point, but AM's in general fall like rocks.

Case in point: ~180K MSRP DB9's are now selling for mid -150's with 1 - 2K miles on the clock.

For the record - I think the car looks stunning.

Well, from the past on the Vanquish I don't see your point.? From what I've seen it has never held up to well on resale.
But I believe the DB9 to be in a different place. It has had great press since it's release. The Brits absolutely love it and it gets that in most reviews everywhere else. I have said before that I love the looks of the car, out and especially in. I think it's resale will hold up pretty well. It is wanted by many and is selling pretty well.

I have an internship at Ford Motor Co. this summer. In my building's garage, there are two DB9s (sadly not in my department). Stating the obvious, but it is gorgeous. It looks even better when next to all of Ford's boring cars in the garage. I feel lucky to be working so near to them, and that I can see them everyday.

I find very interesting the fact of the DB9 claimed as an all new car
while it's very hard to tell from a DB7 introduced back in 1993?!

Before we get carried away critisizing the V12 Aston's retained value, think about depreciation on a V12 Ferrari.....

Although I don't own one, I've driven one. For the price range, I don't think there's a new car on the market that matches it. The interior fit-and-finish is as classy and great as the Bentley CGT. And it looks SO much better than an SL- or CL65. The paddle-shifts are something to get used to (I went to shift up, and accidently turned on the wipers).

As said before, the car is stunning. I'm never a fan of buying a car new, tho. Let it settle for a year or two, let AM and Ford work out the bugs....then go for it at 50-70K less than new. Sounds like a plan to me. :)

Oh, and the comments about it looking like a DB7.....I'm sorry, but I've seen 3 DB7's recently.....and the DB9 makes it look like an 80's K-car. Okay...maybe not quite that drastic...but take a look. The DB9 outshines the DB7 in the looks department, hands down.

I have been watching the AM market for a while and the only one that might fit into the drop like a rock category are the DB7's. The Vanquish held up much better than a similar priced 550 and the DB9 so far is holding up very well. They could have been bought new for 160 so 150 is not too bad percentage wise for a used car. Has anyone seen the Volante yet? I know it was a little behind schedule so I am not sure if it has arived yet but the traveling press car was supposed to have been pretty sweet looking.
