The race version of the DB9 WILL be racing next season. It looks great, like the road car. I wonder how well it will do. The road car isn't exactly the peppiest car out there, but stripping out all of the luxury appointments may have surprising results.
Like I said in another thread about this. I think its great to have Aston Martin get back into racing! I think that pic is slightly exagerated but still awesome none the less.
What happened in todays race? I heard the Lambo came in 2nd in GTS and the 360 came in 4th in GT? To see the Viper, Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, and P-cars all in the same race. This is going to be great!
While the image of the DBR9 released by Aston Martin last week is a bit Photoshopped, the DB9 platform featuring a perfect 50/50 front to rear balance will make for a tremendous racing car. With Prodrive engineering, building and participating as factory entrants (along with upwards of three semi-works privateer teams) bringing up to ten cars, Aston Martin's commitment to the GTS category looks strong. The DBR9s will not be stripped out road going versions but full from the ground up racing cars built to compete against the factory Corvettes in the GTS category with V12 racing engines built by Cosworth (who also build the road going Aston Martin V12 engines for the DB9 and Vanquish) the program is serious. Wait until the actual racing version is made public. It is going to make the image Aston Martin Lagonda released last week look tame in compairison and Astons entry into the ALMS, LMES, 24 Hours of Le Mans and FIA GT a very much needed element of class the likes of which sports car racing has not seen in a very long time.
