If I had the cash it would be the DBS hands down for looks but for performance the 599 is sick. I don't care for the look of the 599 I like the 575m it has more class to me.

No comparison in terms of performance.......the 599 wins by a mile.

For me too: the DBS looks good, but the 599 is a world apart.

I like the look of the DBS but for $100k less I'd go for the DB9 and I do prefer the 599 over the DBS any day.

If you read the article on a road course its not by a mile, its very little. The DBS is much better looking.

If Aston Martin could get a decent engine supplier they would be giant killers. Maybe Mercedes wil work out.

I suspect that the gap in reliability between the 599 and DBS is even wider than the gap in performance..........

IMO, all AM looks very similar started from the Vantage/DB9 up to the DBS including the Vanquish, no big improvement in design.

The DBS might be better looking than the 599 now BUT in 5 years, the DBS will still look like any other Aston Martin (Vanquish, DB9, V8 Vantage, Rapide) while the 599 will still look fresh and unique.

Based on what? One isn't reliable, has less technology, lower performance ect. The 599 is more classical and elegant too. The DBS is a sick car but it's just an alternative for people who don't want or can't get a 599.

The 599 definitely combines both.......it's a gentleman's sportscar. Great performance with beautiful classical looks.

the DBS is probably my favourite current aston, but all current astons look pretty much exactly the same! to me that ruins it a bit...

599 hands down. if you want to look like a gentleman in one, get it in black.

so your saying modern Aston Martins arent very reliable?

I dont really know much, but I do know someone with a DB9 that has been good to him other then a few electrical problems in the begining

I Love the Astons past and present; the Vanquish is one of the timeless designs in auto history; however, when I have the opportunity to look upon the 599 in my garage it is always pure and unabashed beauty. Incredible curves ... and to drive it -- well, that is otherworldly.

It is one thing to see the two in magazines or photos or where ever, but trust me, seeing a 599 in the flesh and driving one cannot be compared to anything Aston.

I suspect that you are wrong...

But we are both guessing at this point. My Aston has been absolutely bullet proof and was put through the same endurance/reliability tests as Volvo, Ford etc/ Over 1 million test miles in 140 degree heat and sub zero cold.

Aston has made tremendous progress in reliability and I don't think they get the credit yet.

+1. My Aston has been great thus far...knock wood.
IMO, I don't think a DBS is targeted against the 599. They are diff animals for diff reasons. I see the DBS as a comfortable daily cruiser with race-bred DNA. The 599 is a race car with "some" elements of a comfortable daily driver. I would be more inclined to pin the DBS against the 612, even though the DBS lacks the rear seating.
I would suspect, the Vantage RS (v12) would fit the comparison to the 599 much more appropriately, once it goes into production

Or another perspective is, what's the need in top performance if it looks that good? :D

The DBS has been my desktop car for some time now.

In reality, what's the need for top performance at all? Unless you take it to the track on a regular basis you'll never even come close to using all the performance of either one of these bad boys regardless of how much better the performance of the 599 might be.

If its good for Bond it's good for me. 599 hands down has the performace. But and i said but if you do a search on youtube the english man don't know his name from fifth gear ex-racecar drive said he would take the Dbs over the 599. And seeing the way he was drive it. I think I would take a dbs too if I had the benzos. I love ferrari but the Dbs is for me hotter. the engine note is sick. performance only good for the track who cares when your drive on the streets.
