Now, since I've been considering a Vanquish S, I might regret saying this, but are ALL Aston designs going to look alike? I really do love Aston's lines. Actually, recently, even more. And, frankly, a LOT more than the 612 and 599 lines (although I reserve final judgment on the 599 until I can see it in the flesh). But, what is it with auto designers/manufacturers today? So much in their product lines looks similar. To wit, Audi 4/6/8. BMW 3/5/7, Mercedes C/E/CLK/S/CL, everything Porsche.

And, Aston's no different. The DB9, Vanquish, V8 and this DBS look similar. Whatever happened to distinctive looks? Maybe it's all a branding thing. Or maybe it's a sharing parts to cut costs thing.

Don't get me wrong. I really do love the Aston "look". But, even their Rapide looks like a stretched DB9.

    Whats next? Aston Martin SUV?

*edits* Actually, upon posting that I thought if Aston made an SUV you know it would be the sexist SUV ever made. Perhaps I would buy one?

Cornerswell, I agree. I disklike the lack of individuality from model to model amongs manufacturers today. That said, I love Audi and I love the Aston range. I really like the Rapide.

What I don't understand is where this model would fit in the Aston range if it is a new model. I think that either it is a "performance-tuned" Vantage, or a replacement for the Vanquish. With the Vantage costing $120,000, the DB9 priced around $200,000 and the Vanquish at $250,000, I don't know where this model would land.

    Thoughts?

no, traditionally those are called Volante.

i m guessing the line up would be:

    V8, V8 Volante < DBS < DB9, DB9 Volante < Vanquish S < Rapide

The rapide concept might very well go into limited production.
The DBS or the CS would be a more powerful Vantage; as it seems the vanquish is not quite yet due for replacement.

I don't know where or who that SUV idea come from, and it is certainly not from Aston Martin.

Let's hope Ford sticks to their pledge to leave Aston Martin alone.....that would be a travesty.....an Aston Martinagator SUV.....

Vanquish production is to end in 2007. The DBS could be the replacement. Or not.
