Just read this. There has been talk of this and it was officially announced today. THIS IS FANTASTIC!!! Not only will it be at LeMans it will be entered in the LMS races.

Personally, I think this is a much more fantastic move that David Richards did instead of buying the Honda F1 team!

Here's a link with the drawing:

Very cool, but how much of a chance does it have against the diesels under the current rules?

Going to make for some great late race pics when its all dirty and battle worn.

That rear body shape works so well the race grime residue paths flow along its curves totally.

Stu, the ACO in a bid to pacify and encourage the petrol (gas) race car makers, has introduced significant changes to reduce the performance, economy and other advantages that the diesel cars have had for the last several years. Dave Richards is one of the shrewdest team owners and operators in the business and I am SURE he did substantial homework and politicking before diving in this deep. The fast that they are committed to a two-car effort for not just LeMans but the entire LMS season bodes well for the effort.

Carol, while it is true the Charouz-Lola was the most pleasant (for me) surprise of the season, I expect there will be substantial aero revisions to the coupe before we see it next. I'm SO glad that this is happening. On the fiftieth anniversary of Astons' classic win at LeMans with Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, too! Look at the front of the new Acura for styling cues...

If the drawing of the LMP1 works car is factual, the front has the definite Aston look only elongated. I would hope Audi would reconsider LMS with the R15 but with Kolles running the R10's perhaps that won't occur. Lots of folks are looking forward to LeMans this year with Aston in P1. Unfortunately for folks in the US, the hot spot for sports car racing is in Europe.

I would like to see Brabs as the yet to be named sixth AMR driver - there's only one conflict which is the ALMS St. Pete race, same weekend as Barcelona. Personally, I would rather see the talent of Brabs in Spain in a heavily contested in a not quite 6 hour race rather than on 1hr55m made up street circuit ...but that won't happen. Hopefully, he will be included in the remainder of the LMS races and LM24hr.

Thanks for posting the link - this car is going to be absolutely awesome and I thought the Gulf livery on the GT1 Astons at LeMans last year was wonderful......

I was reading an article and it looks like there's going to be a third car. Talk about an absolute assault at LeMans this year with two Audi R15's, two Audi R10's, three AM's, two Peugeot and not to forget all the other P1 cars. I really like the lines of the car (hoping they stick with the drawings).

    Thanks..
    Carol

The performance of the Charouz Lola Aston Martin last year bodes well for the AMR effort in '09. The concept for this year looks absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see it run. Just wish it would make an appearance at Sebring this year at least. Hopefully Corvette will have some worthy opponents at Le Mans for their final GT1 effort. Now THAT'S one rivalry I'm really going to miss!
