Anyone know if this car is going to be built. Like all their recent models, looks are to die for and the interior is exquisite.

From what I hear, yes, but VERY limited run, and VERY expensive.

I really like the design of both the Rapide and Porsche's 4door, the 'Panamera'. I haven't heard much lately about either of them though.

Haven't heard anything on the Rapide, but it appears that the Panamera got fat and ugly:

Special photo responsive roof or something...I would assume it was just to 'hightlight' that feature.

Looks like a huge bomb waiting to happen. I hope they are smart enough not to build. Could you sell 40 maybe... but I don'tsee the appeal.

I have a feeling it will sell quite well. The average Aston customer is middle aged, this will fill a gap in their line very nicely. It will take sales away from the Maserati, the Bentley, the A8L, etc.

(Why would anyone notice that the dog in the picture is sniffing somebody's crotch?)

I love the Rapaide. I think it would be a moderate success for Aston. As for the Porsche Panamerica looks like crap. Its a 911 front morphed with a mitsubishi eclipse rear.

I've heard it's supposed to replace the Vanquish as the company's new flagship. Not sure how reliable that is, but since the Vanquish is being discontinued soon......

I don't think it'll bomb - in the UK rumour is a price around £150,000 which'll pitch it against Bentley Flying Spur, high end Benz S class and the like - I know I'd much sooner have the Aston than either of those and as for the following debate, I know which I'd rather have:

    Aston Martin Rapide £150,000 ish
    F360 CS £100,000ish

    or:
    Rolls Royce Phantom £250,000ish

Oh, and seriously I wasn't joking about the Panamera - tragic, it looks like it could even be as bad as the Cayenne (who knows, perhaps even worse when they take the disguise panels off), I'd hoped for something far more Carrera-GT-elegant-ness inspired saloon/4 door coupe. SUrely a missed opportunity, that like the Cayenne won't matter as it's a Porsche and it'll still have a long waiting list and a low standard spec and they'll still make as much from the options as the actual car itself. Another Panamera thread here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136112223&posted=1#post136112223

Rant over, normal service may resume :)

Some better Rapide pics can be seen here:http://www.topgear.com/content/features/stories/2006/01/stories/01/1.html

    That interior is stunning!

For me though, I'm more interested in another new Aston: http://www.astonmartin.com/thecompany/news?a=f956f8c6-625b-4f3f-8939-de2f1a6c3c53
