Thoughts? Did they get a cut rate deal on advertising or will there be more to come in the future as far as a partnership? Their winged logo is on the nose of the RB cars... Robb
Huge tie up in that Newey is designing a car for them that will apparently be faster than a current f1 car on track... Aston Martin confirms technical partnership with Red Bull
Other than pandering to Newey's latest whim to keep him at the company I can't find what Red Bull are getting out of this. Marketing? I don't think it had quite the coverage they were hoping for. Money? From a company with none? Tech? From a company that has to get theirs from Mercedes in the first place? Perhaps this is just a long winded way of getting a Mercedes engine next year and pretending that it isn't one because...Aston Martin, etc.
Reb Bull get two things: 1. Keep Adrian Newey away from Ferrari 2. Ability to be more than a drinks company for real... AM Redbull... or something like that. if you cant win in F-1 then make a road car to make more $$$ and Horner can justify staying in F-1. I'm sure Dieter is thinking from a $$$ perspective F-1 is a tanker lately... so why do it when he can sponsor other cool youth sports at a fraction of the cost and have the appearance of being the best.... building an exclusive road car has some real allure and can cash in on all the $$$ spent so far...and then sell off to someone like Toyota or VW... once its up and running.
I think, ladies and gentlemen, that I might be right if I say that, technically, "Aston Martin gave them their wings?" Thank you all. Too good, too good. I'll be here all week!
Actually Newey is designing a new super car for Aston for the road. It has nothing to do with F1. This agreement allows Newey to play with street cars, as Aston wants to build something to compete with the LaFerrari and the McLaren street cars.
