    Good Evening Everyone,

I was out driving today and had the pleasure of seeing an Aston Martin V8 driving on the highway. The sound was very nice. It looked great in all the traffic. Distinctive, stylish and different.

So here are my questions; anyone here have one? Do you use it as daily driver? I also realize I have not really seen that many tests and or comparison tests either. Have I missed them? I have usually bought a 911 as my daily driver and at times BMW M3 (last version). I am looking to get a daily driver and any and all thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks,

Just a note I have driven one and it is very capable and easy but handles much along the lines of a 911 when pushed

BTW there is a subforum where this is going to be moved called Other cars Motorcycles boats planes etc down there \|/ where this belongs.

The V8 Vantage is one of the most beautiful cars on the road...

I ordered this car based on preliminary specs but declined on purchasing it after I drove the first car brought in to the country. It is a gorgeous car, but my big problem was that the acceleration was not linear. It is a fast car, but there seemed to be a turbo type lag between first and second where the engine doesn't kick in until a high RPM. Also the front windshield rake is weird when sitting inside, and the exhaust doesn't sound great until you hit 6000+ RPM.

It's definitely worth the money, much nicer than a 911 and way less common. But I was expecting more....just my 2 cents.

just had a ride in one from a colleague using his for DD duty. sounded great, much nicer inside than the 911, and good grunt.

Can't speak for the power delivery or handling - but I'd compare to the 911. I really liked it from the passenger seat.

Not looking to start an undeserved urban myth here, but both of the local Aston dealerships have all of the new (DB9+) Astons in their showrooms hooked up to tricklechargers. Are these cars more than normally susceptible to battery drain/dead if left for a few days undriven?

They did have some problems with a few cars that needed a software upgrade. I think the door lights were failing to go out so the batteries would die. I believe the trickle charger is an option because most of these cars will not see regular usage.
Saw one V8 in Monterey and another in Santa Barbara. Truly beautiful, but both were silver, which is getting old as an Aston color.

I test drove one before ultimately buying an M6. The styling of the AM is beautiful as are the gauges. Exhaust note is awesome. It didn't seem to pull like I hoped it would, the handling didn't inspire confidence, interior had more cheap plastic than I would have liked and over less than smooth road surfaces the steering column felt like it was going to drop in my lap. I was a bit disappointed and coupled with questionable reliability and typical AM depreciation, I decided to pass. Still, I think it's a gorgeous car!

forget the V8 Vantage you can get a nice used Vanquish for that price. The Vanquish is the real deal.

I have been using my V8 as a daily driver going on five months. In my opinion, you can not go wrong with it or the DB9 (if you want a V12 and a pair of useless rear seats). I love every aspect of the car and it receives an overwhelmingly positive reponse everywhere I go. I would stay away from a used Vanquish unless you are quite near a dealership capable of servicing it.

What have you heard about Vanquish services? Just curious as it is one I really like.

    Ryalex,

Nothing in particular although I think most would agree that the Vanquish would be the most prone to trouble of the three cars currently in Aston's lineup. F355 fan had suggested a used Vanquish over the V8. I love them all but think a certain amount of bravery would be required to purchase a Vanquish out of warranty if the intention is to use it as a daily driver (as per initial post byTBond8) and one isn't near a dealership qualified to service it.

My biz partner has a Vantage and Ive driven it extensively. Fantastic car. My only criticism is I find the clutch to be too light. I prefer a heavier feel.

His has been back to the dealer a few times for problems ranging from dash leather bubbling to the 'engine coolant low' light going on and the radio acting up. But he still loves the car.

I think its the perfect daily driver for $120k
