My car goes into production Q3 of this year. I am heading to Aston Martin the day after Silverstone GP in July to finalize my spec and then going to Goodwood Festival of speed. The configurator is absolutely amazing! I have been playing a lot! AM is really crushing it lately. This car will be amazing, Looking forward to seeing them on the road.
I just learned that you can’t get a harness seatbelt in the Valhalla because the carbon fibre tub thickness behind the seats at shoulder level can’t support it according to Aston Martin. So if you want to drive the Valhalla on track , you’ll have to do so with the regular seatbelt, needless to say this will be very impractical and you will be fighting not to get tossed around in the seat. From the hundreds of people who cancelled their order ( mainly in the USA ), many said this was the main reason. Aston Martin’s reply was that the car was designed to be a strictly road car not for track use, for ( occasional) track driving you should get the Valkyrie according to Aston. Anyway if someone is interested in the Valhalla, more than 200 of the 999 cars that will be produced, are still available.
The first 2 deposits were 100% refundable, so basically it allowed you to cancel until about a month ago
Not 100% sure but I think so, they have the same policy worldwide for the Valhalla. Anyway the final price list was only revealed 2 months ago so it would make sense that you had the option to cancel at that time.
In that case I could be mistaken as far as the US goes , but in Europe it was refundable. Anyway since so many US customers cancelled, Astin Martin decided to decrease the allocation for the US and increase them in the EU, meaning the car will be pretty rare in the US ( my guess would be 150 tot max 200 cars ). Toured AM factory and HQ, got in the car, etc. Also did the build spec. What a fantastic experience relative to what I think has been several letdown experiences with another brand. The Valhalla in person is very striking with many details not easily seen in videos. Top notch personal touch and professionalism. side note, it’s great to see all different sexy AM models in one place, and in so many colors. Matt gold was a showstopper. side note #2 the afternoon tea service rivals The Savoy in London.
Back to the racing harnesses and Aston Martin supposedly stating that it is a road car…… I was surprised in Harry’s latest videos where he drove his Testarossa up to Scotland that there is zero trunk space. I had planned on racking up some massive miles in my Valhalla with my wife over the years. Not sure how that one will play out….
