Cops are human and are susceptible to human emotions. He was obviously pissed and felt very disrespected by the womans actions. He certainly had NO reason to feel threatened.

His actions were not 'police protocol' they were the actions of a human being whose emotions and adrenaline were running on over drive.

Having said that ..it doesnt make it okay.

I remember one night driving my ferrari I got pulled over for not having plates. Now..at the time mid 30s...I have long hair..tattoos...and I had just bought the car and the temp WAS in the window. The key here is I had forgot my wallet at home so I had NO I.D.

The cop that pulled me over was verbally abusive from the moment he approached and cuffed me against the car as if I had stolen it. I did nothing wrong...not even speeding...I forgot my wallet...thats all...there was no threat to him...there was no reason to cuff me unless I gave some indication I was a threat or was going to flee. Which I obviously didnt.

After looking at the temp from the window he uncuffed me and I called him an @$$hole..he looked at me with fire in his eyes and I said "I have a very good lawyer if you want to continue this'..he got in his car and left.

These 'bad' cops are rare...most are good people...but the bad ones are out there and NEED to be punished/disciplined when they act out of line. I dont care if the job is stressful..I dont care if your wife is a btch..I dont care what your problems are...just do your job and if you cant control your emotions you get fired.

Thats why Im always very polite and respectful until they give me a reason not to be.

I was down the street from my house and got pulled over for overdue registration. The first thing he asked was for me to get out of the car (at which point he padded me down) and placed me in the back of his.

For about two minutes I was seriously sweating bullets about what had transpired to put me in this situation; this is Calabasas after all. Was another car (similar to mine) used in a crime of some sort? Was this some new procedure? Jesus.. my cousin is a Sergeant at the local station, maybe I should start name dropping!

After he ran my info and started writing me up ($10 fix-it ticket, big whoop) I found out that he had transferred from COMPTON only a day or two before. I'm sure that had I started dropping F-Bombs and making a huge stink about it would have only escalated the situation. As it was, I joked with him about the security precautions and told him to get used to mid-day naps in the park.

Point is, you don't always know what experiences are affecting their judgment.

You are wrong, she deserved it. j/k I agree with you here. In the late '80's, a small town where extended family live had a problem of 'fake' police pulling people (usually women) over. Everyone was told that it was acceptable to not pull over until they were in a safe area, but acknowledge the cop. Put on your flasher, wave, even call 911 to make sure it is legit.

In my opinion it is good that these cases of police abuse are coming to light and getting the press they are. Police are in serious need of retraining. I have gone most of my life happily without having to interact with police. Recently that has changed. Since I have returned to school in the last 6 weeks I have been pulled over 4 times. Put in handcuffs twice, in the back of the squad car once, while they search me and my car to find absolutely nothing illegal. No charges placed against me, no tickets cited. It's ridiculous.

I think alot of the cop hating or maybe dissatisfaction with them, is due to the fact that many people don't know there rights.........call 911 if a cop is trying to pull you over, or even ask that a second unit come out and meet you as well....ask for his supervisor to come out....refuse searches of your vehicle...
