Can I go to AT&T and just get a SIM added to my family plan? I know they want to sell a phone and a two year plan but I just want another line via a SIM I can plug into an existing phone I have.

I can't figure it out on the web and don't feel like a trip to AT&T store with the associated upselling to figure it out.

    Thanks in advance.

Just take the free phone they will give you and pull the SIM out of it.

yea, what he said....i do it all the time so i can have a phone that they "normally" dont carry.

watch out though, they are biatches when it comes to that add a line crap.......depends on your plan, they wanted to ditch my rollover minutes and make me start over.....i said nope...i will do it some other way, then they caved and let me have a second line....i dont know what it is with these people and their crazy rules/regs on the plans, they make things that should be simple just painfully complex.......

doug(i-phone 16gig{pre 3g} and just got a nokia E51 for when im on one of my bikes or the boat...)

I don't want to sign up for 2 years to get the free phone.

If you're adding another line, you have no choice but to sign for 1 to 2 years. If you're just looking to replace a phone, you can just switch the sim's and they will never know.

Yes you can. I have never had a contract with AT&T/ Cingular. I have never had a AT&T/Cingular branded phone. Currently have 3 lines on a family plan. They will charge you $20 for the new SIM Card, however; they usually have a buy one item get another free so you can get a car charger/ case. You can just add that line onto the family plan. Just bring the phone in with you (in case they need the imei number, ran into that recently). I would highly recommend finding a corporate owned store, they are much better to deal with.
