AT&T wireless users rejoice (I think)! Remember the ATT microcell towers that they would graciously sell to you and then charge you like $20/month to send your voice calls over your broadband at home in exchange for 5 bars connectivity?? It was like adding insult to injury! Well, I just received a letter that says I can now pick up the microcell tower for free and there is no mention of a monthly charge. The only string attached is you have to commit to 2 year contract. http://www.att.com/3gmicrocell Maybe Im missing something in the fine print but if Im not, then this is pretty good step in the right direction for fixing ATTs horrible coverage issues. *Apparently*, you have to be chosen to receive this great offer from ATT and receive the old fashioned letter as I did. http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/10/atandt-handing-out-free-3g-microcells-to-loyal-customers/
My aunts house doesn't get any service. I wouldn't get calls or voicemails. My cousin called and bugged AT&T and got refunded money for no days of using the phone since they didn't work. I believe they refunded him 2 months of billing. Then he got the microcell for free after rebate, which didn't work, so he called again, this time he had a personal number to go straight to this one guy, and he refunded him more money. Now, it's working fine, but whenever the internet goes out, the service goes out. So that is still a problem.
