I have driven Corvettes, and currently a 96 Grand Sport, so this ferrari is a completly different car to drive to me. And it requires a hole different driving style.

So at what rpms do you shift for "normal" driving"?

And what rpms for spirited driving?

Is unatural to mee to rev passe 5-6K,. being a former vette guy..

So please help me adapt to Ferrari driving....

    My car is a 348tb. 1990.

    good question, i am also quite new to these cars but my style is;

Until the engine is warm I try to not exceed 4000rpm, but try and keep above 2000.

When warm, I shift a little higher, usually around 5000rpm, and keep revs above 3000.

If "spirited", then...well we can all see where the red bit starts...

Got some pointes from a ferrari race driver (360 challange) today, we took it for a spin with me in the passenger seat learning. I didnt know the car had som much potential.

If your Maxima cruises at 2200RPM, then the same driving will have your Ferrari at 4000RPM. Its unnatural at first, I admit, but now 6500RPM upshifts in the neighborhood is entirely normal. It must be fairly noisy out the back of the car, though, but I think that's the point.

348 owners manual states for best fuel economy shift gears at:

    1st - 2nd 2400rpm
    2nd - 3rd 2600rpm
    3rd - 4th whopping 3000rpm
    4th - 5th 2600rpm

I don't think I shift that quick even when the engine is cold!

Well, that's good information since I'm trying to save gas driving around in my Ferrari. I think I've filled it up twice in a year.

I keep mine under/around 3K until the oil is warm, then routinely see the rev limiter +/- after that - the 2nd Street tunnel (lined with tile) in downtown Los Angeles is on my way home so have done many a 1-2-3 run to the redline through it.

Car always seems to be happy after a real caning. Mind you I've got mine sorted - YMMV.

Who cares what the tachometer says?

You can hear when you have to shift.

The roaring sound of that V8 is like music anyway.

Step on it brother...........step on it.

Going to Sofiero on Sunday the 13th ???
