Anyone know where I can get front brake pads for a non-Brembo - i.e. ATE calipered 456GT please ?

seems the 456GT only had ATE calipers in 94/95, then switched to Brembo, and my car has ATE!
Ferrari quote £570 ($700) for just front pads!

Alternatively will 575 disks (Rotors) and Calipers fit under 18" 575 wheels on 456GT?
wondering if they will fit instead, but making the car into a little non-OEM then.

Porterfield pads from Ricambi will be about 1/3 the price and twice as good. The ATE pads are shared with some Mercedes and Porsche models - IIRC, rear pads are the same as Porsche 928 fronts...

unfortunately the Porterfield ones only fit Brembo calipers.
    I'd checked that line already.

I had the same problem with my '94 456 which has the ATE or Teves caliper, the pad is made by Pagid and is a 'yellow grade' pad, I think it is used on some Mercedes cars, sorry don't know which model. You could try calling Pagid UK, I ended up getting a Pagid Blue grade pad fitted at Grimaldis which he had in stock ( I think it may be used on flat 12 Testrossas I can't remember, maybe give Rob a call ) and so far it has been fine including laps at Spa !!! The Pagid Blue grade has a slightly lower upper heat range I think, they do however squeal quite a bit though. The key thing is to get the correct pad shape and thickness/dimensions as they are different from the Brembo caliper pad. If I remember correctly the UK Pagid dealer could order the right one from the grade and the dimensions. It will of course be much cheaper than the Ferrari part but won't be in a yellow box !!!

Funnily enough, the Porterfield pads - the right part number - fit my ATE/Teves calipers perfectly....front & rear.

We have had multiple sets returned to us from 456GT owners on the ATE calipers complaining of misfitting. Do you recall the APxxx or FRPxxx numbers you installed?

I would LOVE to have a reliable offering for the 456GT community, but feel like I've been burned too many times. :(

Anyone know if there is a serial number when the switchover occurred? I have a '95 assy number 17392.

Is there a way to tell which one you have?

Cannot tell for sure from the parts catalog, but the caliper brake pipes changed at Assembly Number 23863. If that was because of a caliper change or not, no clue.

There are good drawings of the Teves calipers in the 456 WSM, so you should be able to visually tell. Incidentally, the WSM says they used Pagid brake pads in the Teves calipers. Unfortunately, they used the same drawing in the 456M WSM.

ebc yellow brake pads worked a treat. Exactly the same as the Porterfields I'd fitted previously.

Discs if anyone in interested were Brembo OEM bought from parts suppliers on ebay!, details:
    front 315mm part number 09.5183.40
    rear 310mm part number 09.5519.10

took me about 90 minutes per wheel to swap over, washers between caliper and hub are a pain, as they fall off easily.

    things to also consider:
pads don't come with wear sensors - its an extra! job for me to sort sometime!
rear discs have shoes inside them for the handbrake - might be a good idea to replace these at the same time.

    Hope this helps someone.
