Want to see what the interest level in having a get together for the movie would be on opening night, Friday July 28. If you dont know, or haven't seen the preview, it has a 430 spyder as the star. I'm thinking vallet parking out front of Phipps mall. Movie around 5-8. Dinner before or afterwards. If theres enough interest I'll get on the ball and start making phone calls. Get advance tickets, reservations at a restaurant, and make sure the valet parking staff knows were coming. Open to any alternative plans, let me know!
Great! To be honest, I'm new to the Atlanta area, and not an owner myself. So I know little of the Atlanta exotic scene. If you know any other owners (prefer Ferraris, but any exotic is welcome) be sure to let them know. I would like to have a rough head count by the 21st (10 days).
I figured Atlanta would have one of the largest Ferrari 'groups' in the SC area. Is it pretty fragmented here? Most people fly solo?
Does anyone know how many local theaters the movie is opening in? Maybe someone should contact the theater proprietor(s) and see about making the presence of Ferraris an "official" part of opening night.
I can do that if you would like. PM me and we'll discuss it. (I would say call, but my phone is on the fritz and not currently working, I'll buy a new one in the next few days) Opening day is approaching fast! Edit -- Just thought of this, and it would be short notice, but maybe we could get FoA involved somehow?
We are a fragmented group for reasons that allude me. Anyway my wife & I are headed to Wolf Mountain Winery this afternoon in the 308 for their brunch.
William, I may be bringing my 308 down to Jackson for a visit within the next 8 months or so, are you in Jackson?
William, Wow, thats great! The concept would be something like this: Ferrari of Atlanta sponsored event for the opening night of Miami Vice. They could bring out some of their 'products' and I would ensure that the valet service out in front of Phipps will have the place cleared for a certain number of cars after a certain time. I could see what it might take to get 2-3 banners made to place around the cars (something like: "Ferrari of Atlanta Presents - Miami Vice). They would be welcome to join us for the movie/dinner/drive, but it would be purely up to them. The proprietor of the theatre may be more willing to let this all go down if he knows FoA (or an established/offical name) will be there sponsoring it. Just tossing around ideas, let me know if you have any.
Walt, I am from Jackson and should be around for the next 8 months as I am pursuing my Master's degree at Mississippi College. May I ask what brings you this way?? Is it a tune at Ferrari South of just a visit? Either way, maybe we can get together and talk cars!! Leon, I like the idea, but as far as time contraints go, it is creeping up on us rather quickly. If it were to come about, I could definetely make my way to the A for some Ferrari fun...if you can take care of the theatre proprietor I can get you a direct line to either Mr. Wettach himself or someone else at FoA who could help us out!!! Thanks guys..
Ok to add some spice: How many people would be interested (I need to know soon) if we got FoA AND the proprietor of the theatres thumbs up? If theres little interest, I'm not why I should pursue it. I'd love to think theres more than 2 people interested...
First item----I dont particularly like parking my Ferrari at Phipps--NOT the safest place in Atlanta. Second, FOA is working of several items currently with me for sponcership, and I can promiss their people dont want to work after hours in buckhead. I have the FCA banners but they would last about 15 mins at Phipps If a group would like to gather we can discuss it, but if we go to Phipps, we need a security guard to be hired.
Well I just underwent minor surgery, so I'm not really in the condition to pursue it atm, and opening day is approaching too quickly. Add to that lack of interest so I think I'll call it off. Atlanta man -- Thanks for the post. I'm not familiar with the 'good/bad' areas yet, so thats something I didn't take into account. I'm also not familiar with anything FCA is doing, but was just going to take a stab at putting all of this together. F355Bvc -- You know, if you thought that all along, you could have told me so. I'm open to suggestions/advice...
It is NOT showing at a lot of places Duluth--141 x state bridge---across from Stoney River---7pm????? any takers?
While I've been there I've seen: Yellow Gallardo More SL 55's than I can count Viper Bentley GT RR Phantom And more lexus/mercedes than you can shake a stick at.
I have been there ( Phipps) too several times in my Ferrari, and saw a yellow 306s there tuesday while cruising about in my E55. Buckhead in general is getting quite dangerous and lots of drugs are about. The Marta Train is close (on 2 sides) and car theft is very high in that area now. besides--it is NOT playing at Phipps anyway.
