Only car for today was a Ferrari 430 Scuderia at Intercontinental. There were also a DB7 and DB9 at other places but it was too dark at one place and the parking lot at the other was impossible, so no pictures.

Hey West, you still around? Haven't heard from you in a few weeks.

Andrew, thanks for the shout out. I have been on vacation in South Beach. It's good to be back. You and Doug have been hitting the streets in anger. Nice pics from the both of you as usual. My first full day back in Atlanta rewarded me with the most cars I have ever spotted in one day! Only three cars escaped my camera, the first was a dark red Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster traveling north on Peachtree past ESPN Zone. I heard the V12 first but could not raise the camera fast enough as the Murc passed me. Second was MWhitesell(?) on Roswell road in his 355 spider. Third was a black 355 spider near West Paces and Northside Drive. A grand total of 16 cars. 10 Ferrari's / 4 Lamborghini's / 1 R8 / and 1 vintage Maserati.
    Enjoy the pics. West

Thanks! Welcome back and nice pics as always!

    Mine from today...

-Old Corvette, colors seem backwards from others I've seen before though
-430 at Whole Foods on Roswell Rd
    -DB9 on Piedmont
-the nose of a Viper RT/10 (I think) also on Piedmont
-430 Spyder pulling out of Lenox
-rental Gallardo and DB9 together at Phipps
    -DB7 still at the Ritz
    -DB9 at Aja

Nice to see you again West! Nice spot on the Merak - older Maseratis are unbelievably hard to come by! And no worries about missing the Murcielago Roadster - I was in perfect position for some great photos. :)

    From yesterday:
    - black Acura NSX (the 2002-2005 model) on Roswell Road at Piedmont.
    - blue Aston-Martin DB7 Vantage Volante at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead.
    - silver Aston-Martin DB7 Vantage Volante on Peachtree approaching Piedmont.
    - black Aston-Martin DB9 at Pricci on Pharr Road near Piedmont.
    - goldish Aston-Martin DB9 Volante on 'Fight Breast Cancer' plates at Aja on Lenox Road.
    - black Aston-Martin V8 Vantage on Peachtree near Lenox Mall.
    - dark gray Aston-Martin V8 Vantage Roadster at Taka, a sushi restaurant on Pharr Road.
    - silver Aston-Martin Vanquish at Tattletales on Piedmont just south of I-85.
    - black Bentley Azure on Florida 'Hospices' plates on Roswell Road. Excuse the poor photo, but it was in my rear-view mirror as I was chasing the Murcielago below.
    - red Ferrari 360 Spider on South Carolina plates at Hal's.
    - black Ferrari F430 Spider on temporary plates at Tin Lizzy's.
    - red Ferrari F430 Spider on South Carolina plates going to Tin Lizzy's.
    - red Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster heading down Roswell Road and into a parking lot at Piedmont; it then parked in a spot in the parking lot.

Hey Doug, just like the early days when all of my spots were observations and you gave me credibility by spotting the same cars then shooting them! You always had my back. Most people who never attempted taking photos of cars driving in city traffic just assume its easy. But not when you have a brief moment under driving conditions to aim and shoot. The thing that bothers me most about the Lp640 roadster missed pic was was not being in a position to hear and watch it more. The photos to me are secondary. I have been around exotics all of my 21 years and I never grow tired of being around them, it's obvious you are the same. Take care, West

Agreed, I found I had a really hard time today trying to take pictures of a Diablo and we were side by side for over a mile.

    My spots for today...

    -DB9 at Lenox
    -430 spider at Lenox
-fake Diablo in front of Lenox, I didn't take any more pictures because after seeing the whole car it was obvious that it was a fake and it didn't have the sound of a Lamborghini
-real Diablo VT on plate "LAMBO2" less than 2 minutes after seeing the fake one, as I said above, I had a really hard time getting a decent picture of it driving...it really made me wish I had my good camera with me today. I also wonder what car the plate "LAMBO1" is on.
-Gran Turismo with matching wheels at Aja, the picture came out kind of weird and the car looks shorter than it actually is
-430 Spyder at some weird restaurant at Lenox Rd and Piedmont

I have seen a couple of cars in the past couple of days but I never have my camera.

Saturday I spotted an Orange Lambo Supperleggera traveling on the Glenridge Connector, a yellow 360 traveling north on Peachtree in the afternoon and then a red 430 spider crossing Hwy 78 in Decatur. Then yesterday (Sunday) I saw another 430 spider driving on 10th street from Monroe to Piedmont.

Anyway, it was cool to see these cars but the most interesting car was something I have never seen except for watching the Discovery Channel! I saw a tamdem two-seater motorcycle - not very interesting you might think - but it was fully enclosed and was driven like a car. After doing some searching around I never found out exactly what it was but it looked mostly like this but with more of a modern like - it was white and more angular. I pasted it while it was driving but really wanted to see it parked because it has wheels on the sides that fold down when the car slows to one or two miles an hour.

If you know about that car, let me know!

Are you sure it's a VT? Looks like a 6.0. Amazing spot - I've never seen a Diablo coupe in Atlanta, and I've never seen a 6.0 ever.

I've actually seen these before - once - but I only vaguely remember it, and I don't remember where I saw it. So that's not too helpful.

    Spots from yesterday:
    - black Aston-Martin V8 Vantage in a parking lot on Roswell Road between Wieuca and Piedmont.
    - red Dodge Viper SRT-10 on Peachtree near West Paces.
    - red Dodge Viper SRT-10 on Georgia Tech plates on Peachtree at Wieuca Road.
    - red Ferrari F430 Spider on vanity plate DOCROC4 on Lenox Road exiting GA-400.z
    - green Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 on temporary plates at Borders on Wieuca and Peachtree. Here's a shot of the whole area.
    - gold Rolls-Royce Corniche V at Lenox and GA-400.

    May statistics to follow shortly.

    May By the Numbers:
    May 2009: 179 (124 cars)
    May 2008: 75
    May 2007: 41

    Most popular cars, May 2009:
    1. Ferrari F430 - 17
    2. Aston-Martin DB9 - 12
    3. Rolls-Royce Phantom - 11
    4. Lamborghini Gallardo - 10
    5. Ferrari 360 - 9

    Most popular cars, all-time:
    1. Ferrari F430 - 78 (39 Spider, 37 coupe, 2 Scuderia)
    1. Lamborghini Gallardo - 78 (40 coupe, 29 Spyder, 5 LP560, 2 Superleggera, 1 Nera, 1 SE)
    3. Ferrari 360 - 67 (33 Spider, 32 coupe, 2 Challenge Stradale)
    4. Rolls-Royce Phantom - 63 (53 sedan, 7 Drophead, 2 EWB, 1 Coupe)
    5. Aston-Martin DB9 - 56 (32 Volante, 24 coupe)
    6. Aston-Martin V8 Vantage - 46 (37 coupe, 9 Roadster)
    7. 1992-2002 Dodge Viper - 45 (25 RT/10, 17 GTS, 3 GTS ACR)
    8. Bentley Arnage - 41
    8. 2003-_ Dodge Viper - 41 (31 convertible, 7 coupe, 3 ACR)
    10. Lamborghini Murcielago - 30 (11 Roadster, 10 LP640, 7 coupe, 2 LP640 Roadster)

    May plates:
    - Arizona
    - California
    - Florida
    - Georgia
    - Montana
    - New Jersey
    - North Carolina
    - South Carolina
    - Tennessee
    - Texas
    - Virginia

    Year-to-Date Sightings: 545
    Total Sightings: 1900 (918 cars)

Amazingly, the F430 and Gallardo remain tied. Just a few days ago I realized that an F430 Spider I had seen many times with South Carolina's old style plate and an F430 I've seen many times with South Carolina's new plate are almost certainly the same car, thus eliminating one F430 sighting. I can't imagine what confusion it would cause if Georgia replaced all of its license plates every few years like South Carolina does!

Another (marginally) interesting fact: May 2009 is the only month in which I had one exotic car sighting every single day of the month. Amazingly, I have now seen an exotic car each of the past 54 days.

    A few sightings tonight:

    - awful photo of a black BMW Z8 on Piedmont at Lindbergh.
    - silver Dodge Viper SRT-10 on California plates at Piedmont and Lenox.
    - red Ferrari F430 Spider at BluePointe valet.
    - yellow Ferrari F430 Spider on Florida plates on Peachtree at Lenox Road, and again later at Peachtree and Piedmont.

Also got a cool coincidental shot of the F430 Spider and Viper SRT-10 together.

Certainly the strangest sighting, though, was a black Bentley Continental GT Speed at Lenox Mall valet. This vehicle had Colorado plates and a Bentley-Denver plate frame, and the last time I saw it was in August 2008 - in Denver! In fact, I saw it four times in Colorado during the summer of 2008! I wanted to talk to the owner, but the car ultimately left the mall without me seeing who was driving. I was stunned!

A few from me from last night and this afternoon...

    Wednesday June 3:
    - horrible photo of a silver Aston-Martin DB7 Vantage Volante on Piedmont near Roswell Road.
    - black Aston-Martin DB9 Volante on vanity plate CORPCEO at Terminus.
    - black Bentley Continental GT Speed at Terminus.
    - red Dodge Viper SRT-10 on Piedmont just south of Peachtree.
    - black Ferrari 430 Scuderia at St. Regis valet.
    - yellow Lamborghini Gallardo turning into a driveway near Highland Avenue and East Rock Springs Road.
    - white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder at a gas station on Piedmont.

The absolute highlight of Wednesday evening, though, was a dark blue Qvale Mangusta on Florida dealer plates, pictured there parked on Highland Avenue in Virginia-Highland. Here's a shot of it on the move, and here's one from a different angle. Less than 300 Mangustas were manufactured during their short production run, and I've never photographed one before. Very very cool!

    Thursday June 4:
    - silver Audi R8 on Florida plate VENTURE at BluePointe valet.

I've seen a couple of Mangustas, but always with the top off. With this hardtop on, the car looks a lot shorter, stumpier, and if I might say so, uglier!
