That's sensational work, and to witness it unfolding is very much appreciated. Can I ask two things... How many hours did it take.... Did you make any mistakes, and if so, how did you correct them? Utterly awesome work.
Thanks a lot Phil, I did not keep an eye on the clock all the time while doing this, but more than 40 hours has definately been spend behind the desk with this one! ......If I make a mistake (and yes it does happen, but only I will know where to look for the mistake!) that cannot be hidden with more lines or by being made darker, there is nothing to do other than to start at a fresh beginning! To avoid this happening there is only one method......stay focused, stay patient and never work on a drawing like this when you are tired.....and from my own first hand experience......keep your coffee mug at a distance!!! It happened more than once for me that I have spilled or just got a tiny drop of coffee on a nearly finished drawing.....I learned from that Best regards Carsten
At a car show in Denmark two years ago, I had a nearly finished drawing on a table together with my pen, so that people could see how the drawings were made......it was one of (Until then at least) the very best and most detailed Bugattis I had ever started to do as a drawing ( a 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante with chromed wire wheels) I was so proud of that drawing......then..... A huge guy in a blue, very dirty, overall with oily hair and "copper grease" and brake fluids on his hands....walked over and looked at the drawing with a friend of his and said.....hey, it's brakes like these i was telling you about, while he planted his biggest and most oily finger ON my drawing leaving a nice mix of copper and used brake fluids in like the most detailed spot on the entire drawing.......I never showed half finished drawings at car shows since!!! I have still not gotten over it and I am still thinking about making that drawing once again... takes time to get over such an experience!!!

i know EXACTLY what you mean...! When i was a teenager, i was working on drawing a comic book... i started with a cover and then draw each page, one at a time... i thought, at the time, that it was incredible... One of my best works ever... Around that time, i stole some money from my father... When he found out, he made a bee-line for my bedroom, grabbed my 10-page comic book off my drafting table and ripped it up into little tiny pieces... i was so distraught from all the wasted time and effort i put into it, i never attempted to do it again... There's a lot of emotion and your own soul that goes into a drawing or painting, etc....
Hi Carbon, You are sooo right, it's exactly the same thing.....the sad, frustrated and empty feeling inside, is all you got left after having worked very intense and very carefully on something truly unique,......and then all destroyed in a split second by some "respectless art ignorant"!!! Almost like loosing a part of your soul, ....your ego.....a part of your life! Yes, part of my soul and lots and lots of emotion goes into each and every one of my drawings.....they're like a part of my personality.....I guess that goes for all or most artists in this World!! BTW: "The Black Goddess" has begun the loooong trip....she's on her way!!!
AWESOME...!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH...!!! i've been thinking about it and i'm already scared to open the tube - and it's not even here yet...!!! i think i'll take the tube directly to a framer and explain the severity of the situation and that no other human being should be allowed to even SEE it until it's under some protective glass and surrounded by some wood or metal...
@Carbon, I think YOU should open the tube yourself, and then have a look at the back of the original drawing before getting it framed.....you will easily spot the original from the others I have added a few "pre-production" prints for your own use, and you could use them to show or give away for your friends if you do not want them to handle the original! What you want to do with the extra prints is up to you! They have been noted on the back, but don't pay too much attention to that.....only a note if the prints should falll into "wrong hands".......you will know what I mean when you read the note!!! All of the pre-production prints are noted and numbered in the same way as yours, just so they will not be confused for the Limited edition prints and put up for sale by some "clever salesman" later on
Well it is finally done and it is amazing! I think you missed a stripe in pants of the reflection....just kidding Your detail is quite amazing and to think that you did it with messing up is incredible! That is defiantly sad about the grease finger on the drawing
Hi Todd; You bet I'm ready,.....as ready as ever And looking very much forward to see the pics..... just remember the max. 10MB rule for sending me mails!!! Best Carsten
Thanks ferraripanoz, Well.... I'll get over the grease finger some day, and I'm gonna make that Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante drawing again .....even more detailed and beautiful than the first attempt.....just wait and see!!! Best Carsten
Thanks a lot Warren, Yes Carbon is a lucky man,...... but then again so am I, to have Carbon as my true friend!! Best Carsten
That is, without question, the understatement of my lifetime... Carsten, i'm anxiously awaiting the tube's arrival and i will open it when it gets here... i will lock myself inside a room that is completely void of any liquids whatsoever... i will over-sterilize my hands and i will be equipped with a face mask - so i don't get any drool on the paper...! Thank you VERY much...!!! You have no idea what this means to me...!
LOL.... I can clearly imagine..... you in a white overall equipped with a face mask and rubber gloves locked away in a sterilized stainless steel laboratorie.....like an engineer at NASA doing some very important adustments to a state of the art super high technology lense for a next update on the "Hubble" telescope
That's it...! That's me...! i've got Latex gloves, but i'll have to wash them first because i don't want to get any of that silly Latex powdery residue on the drawing...
*LOOOL* now when you're at it... why don't you rent one of those laboratories with those boxes where you put your hands in some gloves through a glass window, into a bacteria free invironment???
Please....It's not THAT fragile!!!! If you just take reasonable care not to have dirty or wet hands, that should do it!
Yes...! For radioactive stuff, i know exactly what you're talking about...! i've already got my special glasses... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you... i wore them to the movies the other night... Not one person smiled at me as i walked around... i mean, it was 10 o'clock at night and i was wearing them...! No one smiled...! i'll wear them whenever i finally visit Europe... i'm sure the folks over there will smile...
*LOL* I know I would smile wide!!! I think it's great when somebody try to make something funny in public... why not?
