I spoke to Roy this morning. He mentioned a drive somewhere in WA with both clubs together, for May 8th.

    Any more info?

    Hi Peter,
Yes, we have the LaConner drive and lunch planned for May 8th. The current plan is for the Seattle contingent to meet at the Northgate parking lot around 8:30am, departing at 9am. We will meet the Canadian group at the Fred Meyer store parking lot in Bellingham at 10:30am. Take the Bellingham Airport exit, and turn left at the light and head East about 1 kilometer and you will see the Fred Meyer store on the right. After the appropriate gawking, and discussion, we can head out around 11 am for LaConner. We will break off at Fairhaven (just South of Bellingham) and take Chuckanut Drive down to the Skagit Valley...we'll add a few twists and turns (Spasso, help here? Hint hint)...and end up in LaConner around noon for lunch.

Peter, PLEASE remind everyone up North that the lines at the border are at least one hour southbound at that time in the morning; and Vancooper said he had a 1.5 hour wait at the Pacific Highway crossing just a few weeks ago to meet us for lunch at Semiahmoo. If you can convince anyone to use Aldergrove or Abottsford crossing, it may save time...even with the detour.

    Look forward to seeing you!

    Dave

I will be happy to help with some adventurous routing after breaking off from Chukanut if you folks don't mind the possibility of showing up at LaConner slightly after noon. I will do the necessary research this Saturday in the 240 to determine a timeline.

    Hi guys,

Dave, Roy is quite firm about going through the truck crossing. Our plan was to gather just before the border and cross all at once. I agree, I always use the Aldergrove crossing - at most, I've waited about 20 min. to cross in the heaviest traffic... But for those guys living on the "other" side of the bridge (ie: Vancouver, North Van, etc...), the drive is already long enough for them and would like to cross into the U.S. without having to drive that far out east...

DJ, I haven't heard from the shop just yet. He said it should be done by tomorrow.

Found some alterative routes from the south end of Chuckanut to Conway this morning. Some FUN stuff. I saw a red 328 lurking down by Conway on the way home too. He was heading west on Hwy 534 from Hwy 9, towards Conway. It was a 'quick' pass!

I stopped at the Chuckanut Store/Cafe/Tavern/Dance Hall at the intersection of Chuckanut and Bow Edison for coffee and a scone. This is a must stop for a small group. All baked goods are made fresh on site with local berries. The cinnamon rolls and scones are excellent!

They also have a wide selection of local, state and California wines as well as some micro brews for those that want something better than a 'tap' beer. They even had disco lights! All of this in a 1000 sq.ft. building! Did I mention they sold gas?

Nice people too. Good place for a country breakfast!

Looking forward to the drive next Saturday!
