    Hi,

A friend of mine has a son (canadian) who got a court summon from the Colorado State Patrol for speeding at 86 in a 65 zone.
Don't know why he didn't get just a fine...?
He needs to be in court on march 16.
Is there a way out without going back to Breckenridge or something like that?
I will post this in another section so I can get some attention to this.
    Thanks in advance.

He can hire a traffic attorney to take care of it for him. He was subpoenaed because he cannot be fined without due process of the law. Typically, people can either elect to go to court and challenge the ticket (or plead guilty/no contest) or just pay it. An attorney will be able to either make the appearance for him, or call the prosecutor and work it out without going to court.

Being 21mph over the speed limit, the courts probably set the fines and punishment. A traffic lawyer should be able to appear for him and take care of it. Most traffic lawyers have flat fee's for things like this.
