Ok, Peter when do you want to do this. I may have my Rotex cart in a few weeks, and we'll see just how fast you really are. Who else is in, when Peter lets us know when?

October 2nd or 3rd are good days with no track events. It is prudent on my part to show up with no more than two guests at a time. By the rules, each member can bring one guest. This has been severely abused and the track directors are watching this more closely. Chelsea will be with me, so she can bring a guest (An FChat member). I believe that Art will probably join the track also.

How about if Fiasal and Vincent confirm that they can make it on 10/2 or 10/3. Next, I'll get Readhead, Ben and others out. I am at the track 2-3 weekend days a month.

ART: Can you make it one of these two dates?

    Peter,
It would work best for me another weekend, so that works out great. Let me know the alternate weekend and I will confirm.

Thanks for allowing us to do this.

Pete, you think they'd let me drive my bug on the track with the carts?

    (Kris....NO!)

I could not beat Art today.

Fiasal was a pleasure to meet and drove VERY well!

I got into a six kart pile-up and bent the axle on my 125.

We had a blast!...Who's next? Kris? Rich?

Whaddayamean who's next...me, me, me!!!! I had such a blast. These karts are really a whole different league from indoor stuff. It was a great day--sunny but with a nice breeze, and a very empty track so you could make as many mistakes as I did. I also got frustrated at how quickly I would get tired each time I went out on the track. Your body takes quite a beating. My neck and back are pretty sore today!

What I keep replaying in my mind is the full speed first corner, the 8/10ths banked second corner, which, if done right, lines you up perfectly for the third corner. It got a bit too quick after that, so I never did get the right light, speed, and angles mastered for the rest of the track. But the spins and slides were great fun! Lurching or lugging in the wrong gear, or stalling a couple of times, well, I just gotta work on that. The first time I over-rotated, I got beyond perpendicular to the track and the kart didn't stall, so I just did a 360 and kept going. People in the stands were shaking their head!

Though the performance and lap times are almost identical, I prefer the shifter kart. That thing kicks butt! I also got to open up a kart and change the jetting, which was quite fun.

Thanks a million, Peter and Art, I had a fantastic time. I am seriously considering buying Art's kart, though I know I can't spare the time and garage space is limited. I suppose I can get a roof carrier and stick it on top of one of my cars!

Looking forward to the pictures, and to meeting up again on the upcoming drive.

    Thank you again,
    Faisal.

The pleasure was Art's and mine! I'm glad you had fun. Like I said, if you don't buy Art's kart at that price, you will probably never buy a shifter! If you could buy it in the next couple of weeks, you can have it for Buttonwillow on 10/9. I'll have to hunt down my USB camera cable and DL the pics!
Again, it was a pleasure to meet you!

    Peter:

Got Faisal drunk when we got back to my house, and went out to dinner. Didn't keep my threat to call the CHP on him. Had a great time. Was actually faster on the Rotex than the shfiter at Atwater. We need to do that again, next time Infenion.

A buddy of mine makes a carrier. Attaches to your trailer hitch, cart riders verticle behind the car, no need for a trailer.

    Art,

Do you have any further info on this carrier? I am looking at getting a Rotax Max, and this type of carrier would be great.

Did you end up getting a Rotax Max? There is a Jim Russell 4 hour endurance race at the end of November at Infineon that looks pretty tempting.

    Thanks!

edit: I found this one, it is a horizontal carrier with a ramp. Looks pretty good.

I would be up for an endurance race if three other team members will share 25% of the post race rebuild, a new chain and a set of tires ($600).
