im thinking about replacing my current daily driver with a 05+ A8. Anyone have any experience with these? It would likly have a warrenty but not for too long. Are maintainence costs pretty high or are they better then the other germans and jag?

I did'nt buy one recently because a friend of mine was given a $8500 repair bill for drivetrain issues that happened 6 days out of warranty....I had a smoking deal on a leftover '08 car but passed because I was told about to many issues from to many different owners who all had their cars for under a year....

    Get CPO.
V8's have cambelts, so that is big ticket item, but infrequent changes.
I have W12, it has chains. Been very reliable for 3 years, and as long as you look at 05-later, you're fine. Great cars. I don't know about the above bill, but sounds like dealer was dickhead. AoA is pretty good about stuff. Parts aren't cheap, but really great cars. Check out dealer carefully though, makes big difference.
I'd buy another. BMW lost an 11 car customer with idiot dealer. Look at 05-later XJ jags too-steals, great cars.

While not an Audi, the maintenance and repair expenses of German cars is why I got rid of my M5 as a daily driver and replaced it with a MazdaSpeed3...and that is after driving an M3 and three M5s as my daily drivers over the last 15+ years...after awhile the expense just doesn't seem worth it for a daily driver mostly driven at less than 45mph in traffic...

Audi/VW products are junk and the repairs are stupidly expensive. If it is out of warranty do not buy it. I learned the hard way.
