Hulkenberg to join Sauber in 2025 ahead of Audi F1 entry The Sauber Formula 1 team has confirmed Nico Hulkenberg is joining its team from 2025 onwards and into its Audi era German outlet Sport1 report that Nico Hulkenberg will join the team (currently Kick Sauber) for the 2025 season and the subsequent two years, locking him in through his age-40 season.
As a replacement for Zhou, I suppose. Hulkenberg could be #2 at best. I think he hasn't achieved a podium yet after all his years in F1?
I am honestly stunned by Hulkenberg's longevity in the sport given his lack of results. Yes the car is not good and on and on but eventually after enough races you would expect a podium here and there. To not have one in who knows how many races, to have been out and in the sport so many times, and to be signed to a major manufacturer on a multi year deal after all of that means Hulk has one of the best managers in the business
Hulkenberg, 225 GPs, not one podium. He drove for Sauber, Williams, Force India, Renault ... Stroll, 150 GPs, 3 podiums. It makes one think ...
In the end it is who you know- https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/how-12-years-late-hulkenberg-is-finally-getting-his-shot-at-a-big-f1-team/10603491/ --Audi, helmed by Andreas Seidl, who led the crack Porsche LMP1 squad where Hulkenberg won the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours on debut in 2015, knows what it’s getting.--
I remember Hulkenberg on for an almost certain win at Hockenheim, when he slid off the track in the wet, all by himself, and out of the race. He had plenty of ‘almost’ moments, but that’s the one I’m sure stung the most.
Hulkenberg is a good driver. Always with a bad timing during his whole career which is a kind of achievement I would say. The way he’s dominating Magnussen since last year is very telling to me about his skills.
That was for P3...but so many slid off during that race I hardly blame hulk for it. Lewis, Bottas, Leclerc, Max, plenty more...but those are high profile name drivers that all went off.

Hulkenberg: Seidl driving factor in my Audi F1 deal Nico Hulkenberg says Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl was the “driving factor” in bringing him to the team for 2025, before it becomes Audi in the 2026 Formula 1 season.

GO BINOTTO LOL! We can all blame him again SOON! Binotto to head Audi F1 project as part of major management shake up Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto returns to F1 with Audi Audi has appointed former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto to head up its Formula 1 project as part of a major management shake-up. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Audi announced that Binotto would be joining the team as its chief operating and chief technical officer from 1 August to head up efforts ahead of its 2026 debut. His arrival comes with Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann, previously its chairman of the board of directors, leaving the project. Via Autosport.com
Binotto to head Audi F1. Remains to be seen regarding Audi's F1 infrastructure and culture. It certainly isn't Ferrari for sure. I'm sure "they" will struggle the 1st couple of years until they get a handle on things.
Some advise for Audi. Let Binotto run your engine department and nothing else. Lock him in the bathroom for all team meetings, and send him to the wrong race track each weekend by "accident". You're welcome.
Binotto as chief operating and chief technical officer at Audi. That's slightly alarming. But why is Andreas Seidl already leaving ? He only joined Audi recently.
