I was considering it as a replacement for my A4. Some colors look good, other colors look crappy. Loved the adjustable suspension option, as well as the panorama glass roof option; hated that you had to pay $500 or so for a towing package, which is basically a customized tow hitch!

The 4.2 liter V8 is pretty nice, but expensive and eats up a lot of fuel. The 3.6 is cheaper, but hardly moves.

    Third row seat is useless.

My experience over the past 1.5 years has not been completely happy with my Audi: too many things have gone wrong, and even though they were all covered by warranty, it's just a pain to have to take it in so many times in the 27,000 miles that I've had it.

Go drive one and decide for yourself! :)

Mine started to go downhill post 23,000 miles, so be careful! :)

Besides, the Q7 and the A8 are two different classes of cars. Got pics of your A8?

A family member of mine just picked one up in black-on-black, S-line package and the 4.2 engine. I had the chance to test drive it and had some seat time driving it through city conditions. I wouldn't get anything less than a 4.2 on such a heavy vehicle. It hustles when prodded and has a great ride. Great engine note. The paddle shifter/transmission seemed more lively than what I experienced driving my friend's new M5. It isn't the fastest, but, as an overall package I loved it.

Concerning this pic the Q7 in front is BIG! beautifull lines, in black looks
a tanker! today i saw it vermellon color, looks nice.
Since today never seen in White color, must to be beautifull too.

Great car Audi, 8 years with them 3 years some problems with the A3 QT
but nothing important. during 2002 the A4 QT in fiability, i never see that before. Strong and real pleasure to drive.
Next one ? a new Audi.

Bought our last yr, already have 13k miles on it. the tow 'package' from the factory has a higher tow rating than the dealer installed one. I have towed the Ferrari with it half a dozen times now with no problem, that alone was about 6k miles of use. gas milage is great and power is good. really wish the v10 tt tdi would come to CA but oh well.

the air suspension is a must, we had the A8L prior to this and they are not really comparable, the A8 is stil leagues ahead of the Q7 but the Q7 has cargo space the A8 does not. If it wasn't for the need of the cargo space I'd have a S8 right now.

I can't really complain, it's large for a euro SAV and fit and finish is great. I liked it better than the BMW, Porsche offerings.

I'm a big fan of the G, (currently own a G55K) looks wise however, very antiquated and handles like a refrigerater on wheels.

My real estate agent just traded in her A8 and Envoy Denali for a Q7. I took a look, very nice SUV. But I think I'd buy a used X5 or Cayenne first. (used because the previous generation models look 100x better)

To be honest, I find it rather dull compared to its competitors. The looks do nothing for me against a Cayenne/Rover/X5.

While I don't like the Q7, I have to disagree with you. If anything, it is a fresh change over the ones you listed. For crying out loud, the Cayenne is the ugliest thing to ever take to the road, while the Q7 is gorgeous. X5? Every person here owns 9 of them. They make my eyes bleed when I see them. And Range Rovers? Sure, they look nice, but they were rated the least reliable car in 2006, IIRC. Oh, and they are basically Fords with very few real features for a $80K+ car!
