Wondering if anyone out there has experience with this car. I am in the process of buying a new one with the 6 speed manual. The car magazine reviews are great but just wondering if anyone has real world experience. It seems to be a fantastic car.

I just got my R8 V10. It is a great car to drive. fairly fast and very good handling. It is a great place to be for an all day drive or just to go out and have fun.

I got the manual it is okay but does not feel as precise in shifting as I would have expected in a german car.

The automatic is also a very nice car. Although I prefer manual shifting the automatic was tempting.

I like the Audi R8 V10 better than my 458. It is more of a drivers car. My 458 is a 2010 model. Someone on this website said they have changed the 2012 models to make them more of a taut sports car as they have been in the past. This may be true since the poster said Ferrari dealers can modify the 2010 and 11's if the owner wants to. Nothing looks or sounds like a Ferrari.

Audi calls it a supercar. Maybe but not sure. It sure looks like one and drives like one. I think of super cars like Mosler, ZR1 vettes, Ferari's like F40's or lambos. I think it is underpowered to be a super car at 525 hp

Having said all of that it feels like a great car so far.

I traded in my Astin martin and ZR1 on the car which gives you some idea how I value the car.

Drove an Audi R8 (4.2, not a Spyder) a few years back. Solid car - sounded great, but I wasn't overwhelmed by its "greatness". It did everything well, but didn't excite me. Mind you, this was a 2006 or 2007 - an earlier model, so any updates made for the 2012MY would not be applicable.

I agree with Lee that the tranny didn't feel as precise as I would have expected. It was "notchy" for lack of a better word.

    Good luck and enjoy!
