Well, my sibling finally got his 2012 R8 after a long wait of approximately 4.5 months.
I have to admit, I have some interest in this car since it was one of my choices the
612M, Turbo Carrera, 458, 430 Scuderia being the others. Having bought Audis before
and with the dealership nearby the R8 was very tempting. At the onset my friend/salesman
at the Audi dealership would always give me a call when a R8 arrived at the showroom.
Then, i had just leased my S8. Alas, after 5 R8s came and went, my friend moved to
    a different dealership.

Surprisingly, the other salesman were reluctant to let me test drive the R8.
Two years had to pass before my interest in a sports car was rekindled.

My only option was to go to Gotham Cars and lease my fancy so as to have a closer look and have an idea of how a specific car handles before dropping six figures in that car. That seemed reasonable.

Long story short, last Sunday was the first time I was able to drive an R8.
The car is the V8 and not the V10 version, had a 6 speed clutch. The interior felt roomy to
accommodate a large German. Seats were more cushiony than the 458 and certainly a
Porsche. Downward visibility of the back was wanting but the backup camera made it easy. Clutch pedal pressure was surprisingly light. You could actually drive this car in
a bumper to bumper traffic without get leg cramps. Certainly lighter than my 355.
The gated 6 speed shifter was very light and short throw. It eases into the gears
easily. The steering response is very good. I did not notice any wandering that most all-wheel drive cars have. Were ever the car was pointed, it went there. No deviations.
No bump steer/torque steer. Instrument layout was nice.
Did not do any high speed maneuvering, sorry. I wish my brother good luck with it.
    Very nice car.

So, do I like the car, yes.
    Would I buy one, yes.
Thrill factor 7 out of 10.

I had the V8 R8 and the V10 LP560-4 and I honestly believe that the interior build quality is higher in the Audi. My Lambo had a nasty plastic seam behind the steering wheel that I would always bump into. The Audi also did not have the stupid blind spots in the A pillars that the Lambo did. The V8 engine is great. It is useable and makes a great noise in every day driving situations where you could never really put your foot down in the Lambo around town.
