Damm you Vik! You stole my post. I was going to say that after watching this: www.audi.com/R8 there will be no G or FCar in the near future for me. Everything is on hold until the pricing and such is announced for the R8. Good thing I already have my deposit down
Looks great but I am not sure about the use of the finned diffusers in the rear. I am disappointed it doesn't have a V10 as was rumored for quite some time.
wow it turned out great! Why can you only choose from 4 Colors? Will there be an extra cost for a custom color? What do you think the premiums will be when they first start touching the groud in the US? Audi is the best
I'm sure its a great car and I'm sure its very fast, but it just doesn't look all that good to me - and that side panel in a different color makes it look even worse. I'll take a Gallardo instead.
Agreed, although it does kinda look like a 350z from several angles... and that contrasting rear panel on the side... and just imagine someone bumping the nose while parking - it would tear apart in a 5mph crash. However, I love Audis and I'm glad to see them making a sports car.
not a bad job, but... -side profile, looks too g35-ish in the c pillar area -they probably could have been a bit more inventive with ductwork than using what appears to be a gallardo door -i dont quite understand why the fuel filler area needs to be two-toned. but this is the way they have had this car pegged since the start, [shrug]. maybe they could have done something a little more carrera gt inspired; all the lines on this car are relatively soft or rounded, then it has the hard edged gallardo door kinda sticking out like an afterthought. imho its pretty nice, not what i would invest into with a 100k though its a nice audi-infiniti-gallardo-r8
i think youll see an untuned v10 in there. Plus that car is seriously lacking torque. I think the RS4 will give it still competition. They are def going to have to place the S8 engine in there.
http://www.audiworld.com/news/06/paris-audi-r8-debut/ Here are some other pics. I'm sure your right about Audi not putting the Lambo V10 in the R8... They are way to smart for that. That would be like taking the running gear and platform from a Bentley and putting it in a VW. Could you imagine that????? I bet they'd call that a Phaeton............
Hmmm..... I wonder who will be the first to buy an r8 and a totalled G and do a nice engine swap (scratches chin with evin smile on face)
Good point! I'd assert the following, though: 1. The common platform between the Audi A8, the Bentley CGT and F-Spur, and the Phaeton is not exactly common knowledge and most of the people buying those cars don't know what a platform is. Sports car enthusiasts are very aware of the powertrain. 2. The Phaeton and the A8 use the non-twin-turbo W12 at 450hp/413ft-lbs to differentiate it from the Bentley. For these reasons, Audi will likely not drop the _same_ V10 G powerplant into the R8.
Wow, the car is amazing looking, those diff color side panels reminds me a little bit of a two-tone bugatti (sp?), the cockpit resembels a little bit of the NSX. The only thing that throws me off is the front overhang, from the front wheel to the front of the bumper, too long. That looks like a disaster for getting in and out of driveways. Over all the car is a huge head turner. PS, anyone know the weight of the car?
They still are. They're launching the V8 version first, then coming out with a V10 version. This car is unbelieveable. There's a fansite at http://www.r8audi.com/
