I posted on Asphalte an article on a pretty long test drive of the new Audi RS4 V8. I have to say it's the first Audi that convinces me as a real sports car, the engine is a real success, and the rest is up to the task. No real flaw except the usual slightly mushy brake pedal feel and a tank which will not take you very far if you play with the beast.

    I repeatedly measured 50 to 160 km/h in less than 10s (around 9.8) in 3rd ...

There's a new player in town, the new E92 M3 will be a long wait for BMW fans ... and dealers.

When I saw Clarckson's video shot in les Gorges du Verdon, I was a bit surprised because the images looked like an understeer festival yet the tall guy decided he would like the car.
Turns out that Audi has come out with a well sorted chassis, more tuned for efficiency than fun, but at such performance levels, efficiency is fun. Throw in a naturally aspirated high revving V8 that sounds like a Corvette gone hyper, and you have a very good result. Audi quality does not hurt either, I just wish they had used actual cast aluminium on that gorgeous steering wheel. Aside from a mushy brake pedal feel (I was stunned that Porsche went there with the Cayman S as well), the biggest flaw will remain the autonomy: the 63L tank won't take you far, but the RS4 will get you there fast.
