I've seen them like that. I think it's normal. Really anal owners just leave the wrap on - saves a lot of detailing effort. :)

As far as I know, every Audi is shipped like that (a few one offs in closed trucks aside)...even the low-end (relatively speaking) A3s and A4s. I just picked up a B7 A4 (2.0T) and it came completely covered.

I see one of those just about everyday headed up I-45, I guess on the way to Dallas. Sometimes VW has them covered as well, but Audi always does.

I used to work in service at a VW/Audi dealer, this is how they come in from the factory, full wrap car covers, with clear plastic for windshield, rear window and 2 side windows (what else do you need!), plastic zippers
(plastic = don't damage paint!) for drivers door access and fuel door access. Our dealer threw the covers in the garbage but the detailer saved me a few of them......I think I have some at father in laws storage trailer.......my buddy threw one over his Jeep Cherokee thats in storage. Not a perfect fit, but hey what can you do when its free!

Also, VW cars came in with a foot long by about a foot wide solar panel which plugged into the cigarette lighter and held to window by suction cups, used to keep the battery topped up, particularly when sitting on the lot. They are supposed to be offered to customers picking up a new vehicle, which rarely happened (offered). So the detailer piled them up in the wash bay. I scored about 10-15 of them. Still have a few. Not a bad little thing to have around.

Agree. All the cars come in these covers to protect against damage during shipment. If you want one, go by the prep bay at an Audi dealer before they cut them off and they will probably give you one.

Those cigarette lighter plugged in solar panels were good for keeping the larger cars with all the electronics topped off. You could probably pick up one of these for the asking if you ask the right person. Don't ask one of the salespeople. They will say "sure, as long as you buy the car it is on".

BMW ships their cars in covered trailers so they do not have to cover the cars individually. Ferrari has lots of different little covers over various parts of the cars (nose, mirrors) that might catch a loose stone........
