Okay, so I have this CD - it's a burned copy of an original. I pop it into the CD player in my car and it plays beautifully. I pop it into my computer, select one of the files and enqueue it in WinAmp and it plays beautifully. But when I copy the files and paste them into a folder on the computer (so I can have them on the computer and listen to them on the CD in the car at the same time), they don't play off of the computer. Only off of the CD.

I pasted them onto a flash drive and tried to play it in my car, but that didn't happen either. The stereo in my car and the computer at work read them on the disc just fine; but on anything else, they're worthless files. So what am I doing wrong...? How can I successfully copy and paste these seemingly regular, ordinary audio files from the CD to the hard drive of my computer (and then subsequently successfully copy them from there)...? Any help would be greatly appreciated - it is, perhaps, the most beautiful collection of audio files I've heard in quite some time. :)

you don't copy and paste them. you need to convert them to a flac file (lossless / no compression) or to an mp3. otherwise, they are cda files, which is basically a big wav file.

But wouldn't a big .wav file still play...? I download files all the time, burn them to a disc or copy and paste them onto a flash drive and they play just fine... I, unfortunately, have never heard of converting something to a "flac" file. How do I go about doing that...? Is it a simple process...?
