so, I'm continuing on from my quest to tidy up the antenna related equipment that I have in my 1991 Euro 348TS, basically trying to work out what is factory fit versus what has since been added.

With help from 348Jeff I've found that the antenna coax lead that runs from the front of the cabin to the rear (of a UK TS model at least), is terminated at the rear in the following way.

I'm guessing that on a TB or GTB model this termination would be fastened to an antenna, but for a TS its just left like this, flapping around loose within the roof space behind the rear light assembly.

If I can get it to connect to something that will act as some sort of internal aerial I could perhaps junk the windscreen Bosch 'thing'.

Can anyone enlighten me on what the termination in the image actually is, or is it simply that, a terminal, and not any kind of special component?

Hi Dave. My car is a TB so I cannot give you info on how this is/was connected in a TS but I am familiar with this kind of disc-terminals for whip antennas (not telescopic). The toothed side should be under and in contact with a (metal) body panel at the hole for the antenna. The base of the whip antenna (normally about 2 ft. long), sitting on top of the mentioned body antenna hole, should have a stud that goes through the centre hole on the disc-terminal and it is clamped to the disc-terminal's smooth side with a spring washer and a nut. The antenna stud should not touch the car body panel. The question is - do you have a horizontal metal body panel where you could install the antenna?

My TS has a roof antenna - so wont be flapping around loose on mine.

My guess is either you had a screen ariel and that connector was fitted as part of a common loom or as suggested above you originally had a roof antenna that a previous custodian has filled in.
