Hi, I am pretty new to this forum. I am looking for a 78 or 79 GTS (let me know if you happen to know of one) I live in Austin, and before I make any decision, I would like to get some feedback from the Ferrari community on service. Where do you bring your vehicles for service? Could you give me an idea of cost? I have read stories about high service cost at dealerships, but also that there are other reputable places that service several Italian brands, and can be a little less costly. Obviously, I am not trying to take shortcuts as far as service goes, just want to know my options. Thanks, Peter
David is definitely the right person. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/member.php?u=1109 Here are some pictures from when I visited his shop in May. It's a independent Ferrari & Porsche service shop but, I'm sure he will occasionally work on other makes. Just like the Diablo GT.
What do you need done to the Maserati? I know somebody, who knows somebody, who might be able to work on it for you. Wink Wink Wink!
Nothing happened, actually. Just curious to know if he did works on other makes. Also, Gransport has no D
Wes has been drivin' Buicks too long, sorry. And I hear lots of good stuff about Moorespeed. Need to get up there someday.
Ok, I'm just going to be good here and bite my tounge. See what I get for trying to help? BTW, they are Volvos not Buicks...and they will always have my heart!
Wes, I just looked at your profile - Is it really necessary for one man to have two 360's? 1 for the road and 1 for the track, I suppose. For some reason I thought you had a 355 Challenge, not a 348.
I have a 348 challenge too. Didn't like the 355, skipped it and went to the 360's. Had a 348 street car at the same time, but four Ferrari's was just too much to handle. Esp since I had the Noah thing going with two of each kind. So I sold the 348 street car. Now I'm kinda thinking about older stuff...F40 on the way, maybe a Daytona, a C4, and a couple others are on my list. The 360 are on their way out, but I am going to keep the 348 Challenge as a track car for fun. Maybe you can join us for breakfast one day in SA, I'd like to start a local SA thing on the 1st Saturday of the month. You might even meet that guy who knows something about your Gransport ( no "d" included)
Who is this man that knows something about the Gransport? I'm a bit confused? Me and my Dad might head down to SA for a breakfast sometime, we'll see.
I don't know who Gransport is.............but for our shop......Yes, we work on Lambos and Masers (worked on a few old birdcages too) and other go fast stuff. Basically most Itallian and German cars as well as any race car. We work on old Vettes and Vipers too. BMW & Mercedes, etc. Basically if it's cool, we will work on it. But our street shop specializes in Ferrari and Porsche and have the factory diagnostics computers and manuals for all.......that's a big investment in itself. Have you priced a Ferrari SD2 lately? But don't bring your Saab or Volvo unless it's pimped out ;-) david
The only cars you won't service are one's that aren't cool ? lol Dave, my sis needs smaller jets for the Holley carb on her 64 Impala (it's a 750cfm), I told her I payed to have them installed, would you tune it? It's a cool car, I think. She'll let me replace the trans gasket, but not the jets?
That's funny Steve......... Why do you think it needs smaller jets and is 750 the original size carb??? Seems big unless it's a big block with big cams. Call me at the shop. d
