Ummm, not trying to jinx you Ian, but isn't that a pretty big assumption to make about an electronic gadget?

I don't think so, the standard ECU+mechanical relay runs the F1 pump almost constantly, with the Smart relay it runs for a fraction of the time. The F1 pump also generates heat, which adds fatigue to everything around it, so it's reasonable to expect improved reliability.

I'm very happy with the results so far, especially after my personal Ferrari guru, Greg246, cleared the engine fault code with his OBD. :)

No I got a 2nd hand one from Eurospares.
The price was pretty eye-watering - yet still less than half a new unit - and I did have some concerns about it but in the end the solenoid that I actually need is in good nick. And I’ll have some spare bits to hang on to for the future.
It should be here Monday and go on the car Tuesday.

If it works out ok I’ll order that new relay and then there’ll be no stopping me!

    Poor Moretti.

    :)

Realistically I imagine you’ll have to take it easy for a week let all the fluids do their magic switch all the electrics on bit by bit put load on the systems gradually if it’s been sat for months

This particular problem has stumped everyone for well over 18 months.
It has been driven during that period (eg. every time I got the car back after installing a part that would “fix” it), but it would have done less than 300km in that 18 months.

I did have a peek at the price of a new unit and well FM I can see why you pursued alternative options

To be honest, given the number of times I’ve bought a part after being told that is definitely the problem only to drive the car home and the same thing happens within a day or two, I think I’ll be shocked if it does fix it...

    Thanks. I think. :p

I’m not a definite yet for the rally. There is a freeze on leave at work at the moment and because I’ve been coming up to Cairns so often to see Simon (I’m at the airport now about to go home) I might be last in line when leave does open up again.

But in any case I think it’s obvious I’d beat you. Especially with my faster gearbox, new solenoid and relay...

    :D
