Driving wasn’t mentioned, perhaps you should review the post again, you’ll find I’m correct [emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
In the manual it says you need to use the windscreen washers for 10 seconds+ (hold the washer arm for at least 10s and continue to hold) before the headlight washers come on.
Ok thanks I’ll take a look at my next opportunity [emoji1374] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Amateur hour question I’m shore, but is it correct that alternators either work or they don’t? I had noticed that my battery was pretty weak on starting last week so bought a new charger and it did a deep cycle charge finishing with it being fully charged and apparently healthy (it’s an Optima Red Top only 2 or 3 years old). First few starts afterward were really strong. However, yesterday it seemed very weak again on starting the car. Could the alternator be not working properly or is the battery toast already?
Just don't spend money until you get an auto lec to check it.If there were no lights on or battery gauge reading low my guess would be battery. Fly Gizzi over he'll sort it
Geez Papster, you have to use them to stop the oil from getting thick. You should know that being a mechanic.( Won't mention belts or tyres)
Yeah, try to start it once or twice a month and leave run till operating temp (cooling fans come on) when I am floating around the yard doing stuff. Haven't started it for a few weeks now because battery has dropped a cell *I think* I am normally working 6 days a week, but have 6 days off now because of the school holidays. Don't have anyone to look after the kids this holidays, so I had to take some time off. You would think in this 6 days I have off coming up from today I would have time to charge the battery or replace it if it's ****ed.......................yeah, nah. Probably won't even get to fit a battery to it before I go back to working 80 hour weeks again.
Thanks. It seems strange that the battery would be stuffed already, and I thought the charger would indicate if it was unhealthy. Alternator is not a cheap part - of course - so don’t want to change it unless necessary.
During the holidays you don't want to be effing around with cars ,you spend the time with the kids ,much more rewarding in the long run. They'll appreciate it too, more than you think.
The 355. It has hardly been driven this year as I was away all Jan and Feb, but I always isolate the battery (even when it’s only a few days between drives). The first battery I put in the car - when I bought it - lasted five years plus and it was just a run-of-the-mill type. I then bought this expensive Red Top a couple of years ago and it’s doing this already. Seems odd. I should add there are no warning lights or other symptoms while driving. Just weak turning over during start, which I guess does tend to suggest it’s the battery.
Sadly, I guess it's a case of use it or lose it. I'd still get an autolec to check before you shell out for a new battery. But on the bright side, a battery is cheaper than an alternator.
A red top Exide? If so, just go and get another battery. I sold Exide for 28years and got rid of them two years ago. They are rubbish now. Once upon a time I would get 1 or two warranties a year. Once they sold up here in Aus. And moved their manufacturing overseas, they are ****. We were getting 1 or 2 a week. It was atrocious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd rather drive the car. Nah, all good. Plenty of time to drive the car................when I'm dead.
+1 We used to sell and fit Exide batteries 20 years ago when I was working on cars, they used to be good. Haven't heard a good thing about them for years now.
