NOT ANY MORE!! I'm in it today, getting a little repair done to the leather, and it is running as it allways has....perfectly
I need you to give me some tips next time we're on the track you drove that thing so well at Darlington that I use to think you had it turboed as you passed me on the back straight Of course when you remove the handbrakes (wives) they ALL go faster
Save your cents and be nice to your mother. ( that's my tip) At one national rally I had a bloke telling me that the blue 308 had titanium con rods and revved to 10,000!!!! I would be quicker around any race track in the C class if I had to take my wife with me....Horse is too loud And did you notice I have worked out the smilies
Heading along Albany Hwy in Vic Park late this morning and saw a red Mondial at a Roundabout (one with aftermarket wheels), then 3 min later the 348 that is usually parked down at the rear of the John Hughes Hyundai dealership. Does that count as two spots or just one?
all V8s were intended to be Dinos as the old man reckoned only the 12s were Ferraris ..... I wanna Ferrari
Carl told me a useful bit of trivia for all the "V12's are the only real Ferrari" brigade..... Carl says that a V12 Ferrari has NEVER won a World F1 Champinship... I think he's right..... A Flat 12 did win though, but not a V12...... (And thats why Boxers should be worth more than Daytons... In my opinion!)
Yes, but IMHO it was the V12 sportscars that actually made Ferrari great! As for the whole V12 thing, what did Enzo think of the Monzas, Mondials and TRs that weren't 12s?
Careful - there is a difference between a 'V' engine and a horizontally opposed engine. FF can give you a more technical description I'm sure, but it's to do with the arrangement of the crankshaft and conrods. Agreed there hasn't been much success with the V12 engine in F1, but in the 1950s & 60s sportscar races like Le Mans had a much higher public profile usually and hence the legend of the V12s!
That's a bit strange, isn't it? How can an engine be in 'V' configuration at 180 degrees? 'V' does not = ____? Then again, wtf do I know?
The 180 degree V12 argument is not relevant here... I said a FLAT 12 won, not a BOXER... the confusion with these engines is that the flat 12's are not really true BOXER engines, they are 180 degree V12.. But flat, whichever way you look at it! Just a bit of artistic licence using the term "Flat" to say a "V" didn't win a crown.... Anyway, I love ALL Ferrari engines equally, they're all special in their own way...
Come on FF - I was waiting for you to give a technical definition! Basically, as I understand it, on a 'V' engine the conrods share a common crankpin and on a 'boxer' engine the conrods each have their own crankpin. Is that correct?
Basically, but also... V12's leak LOADS of oil, while Boxers only leak a little bit, or is that the other way around?
It's just anti-corrosion protection. Got to keep those big GILCO chassis tubes lubricated and protected
rubbish !! a flat 12 engine is not a "V12" no matter how you try to put spin on it. FERRARI HAVE NEVER WON AN F1 CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A V12 ENGINE with that logic all Porsches are V6s they were called boxer engines because the pistons were HORIZONTALLY opposed and the action of the pistons was in a "boxer" motion. I think I'll call my straight 6 2300S engine a 360 degree V6
which book ? I've probably got it I must admit I've read this rubbish before but that's all it is , rubbish
Speedcore is quoting something I have seen though Roman, I don't believe it is accurate but some twisted individual believes you can have a V with an angle of 180 degrees What is probably right is that it shouldn't be called a "boxer" engine although I can't find the reasoning behind that either.... not a good night technically for me
