Absolutely, JM. Not having a go at Speedcore, just the book and the logic of a 180 degree 'V'!

The whole flat vs boxer thing is beyond my limited engineering comprehension, so at this point I shall simply STFU! :D

OK, "Ferrari the man the machines" has several references to V12 180 degrees in it but taken in context it looks like they didn't know of any other way to describe it (other than boxer or flat 12) in the spreadsheet where they listed this description (page 123)

it's still a misnomer in my book

the only dumb question is the one you don't ask when you don't know something ;)

I was accused of being condescending and manipulative today by some execs ..... I just said "who ? me ?"

but lets face it a V is a V and flat is ,,...well, flat

    the world is 180 degree V-shaped :D

Ofcourse you can! That's why 360 degrees means the earth is flat.

I agree with moretti. A V12 is in the V config and a Flat 12 is flat. hehe. It is weird though, as i also have info in regards to this saying that all ferrari flat 12 cylinders are known as V12's 180' I had this same discussion a few weeks ago with some American Fchatters also. In the real world,we all know the truth :)

Im too scared to post anymore!! I keep forgetting you guys are more technical/looneys/freaks then me about Ferrari!!! haha.

When I said Technical book, I think I go overly excited, I meant to say the "1st Offical sanctioned" Ferrari F1 book, says 180 degree V12. The book is called, Formula Ferrari by Umberto Zapelloni, Michel Comte (Illustrator) 1st published in 2004. It is mainly about the team in the 90's/00's but at the back its got all the ferrari f1 cars stats. It also mentions and thanks Luca Colajanni and Jean Todt for helping him edit the book.

If it was 179degrees it would be a V configuration all they did was make it flat but what Im saying is its still based on the V engine... Ok Ill shutup now.

got that book and love it as it was given to me by a beautiful female friend of mine while I was recuperating from my accident.

Not really a technical book but a damn good read.

The engine used by Ferrari was originally done by a guy who built the "boxer" 212 for hillclimbs and then he left and Mauro Forghier took over the development of the FLAT 12

You are getting confused with the 365BB which had a lot of the V12 Daytona engine parts , the formula one engine was not based on any V12 engine

This drove past on Nepean Highway in Cheltenham yesterday, around 4:15 pm. Had the plates of F430 also.

Saw a Murcielago Roadster, bright yellow, plates of V LM 888, have a pic also but can't be bothered resizing.

Nice pic to go along with the spot!

BTW, I think that Murcielago roadster is Sam Newman's.

This one? I got bothered enough to resize. :p

The pic was actually a blind shot, managed to turn on the camera just in time and just tracked it with the car while my dad was driving. I'm quite happy with the result also.

i dunno if it was unfortunate that it wouldnt start, i figure they would expect every time they want to move it they need a full team of mechanics.

today saw a Red 328 at Whitfords Shopping Centre, and a 996TT in Seal Grey at Mullaloo beach.

i think the 996 had an aftermarket exhaust on it, because it sounded awesome.
