We used to go late afternoon. The queue weren't that bad and afterwards we would park in the field along the main straight and walk up to the castle for dinner. They had a great Italian restaurant up in there.

There was heaps of Aston Martin's and BMWs on the track along with a whole bunch of daily drivers. I think easily we did about 200 laps will we were in Germany I have some pics from my face book but not many. I will have to dig out the cars pics and video

The F40 was great to drive. Found mostly that it was all top end power. Didn't really push too hard on corners as the track was usually slippery and under steered. On the straights it was always full throttle.

Got bad heat soak after a few laps so losing up to 20-30 seconds a lap. After 5 laps the brakes would fade out. Lap times were in the 10 minute bracket and then later 11s with the heat soak

Mate of mine wants to pay to put the 355 on a boat to Europe and we spent a month driving the roads.

Not sure I want to do that, could be either dangerous or expensive or both

Was at FMS today for parts, had a look around like you do and scruffy engine bay or not, that 355 challenge is a beast of a car

Both. I've looked at doing it - very expensive, and a RHD car is a PITA to drive in Europe, especially if you're doing a lot of overtaking.

Yes, 2 people I know ended up buying 2nd hand Ferraris in Europe instead and keeping them at a dealership as they said it worked out much cheaper and way less hassle. They do spend several months in Europe every year though.

I'm always amused by pretentious Aussies who boast about their European lifestyle as if it resembles a 1960's Bond movie.

The reality is heavy traffic everywhere, petty crime everwhere and miserable weather in most places.

In the ‘places’ and ‘season’ that is true but you just have to avoid the tourist spots and months and it’s fabulous eg Lausanne to Treviso via Davos in May (main pass was still closed due to snow) and Simplon Pass in Sept were both fabulous. Just avoid the tourist spots, motorways and city centres and you’d be amazed at how good the driving can be.

Except where we have our house in the Peloponnese, loads of great driving roads through mountains as well as coastal with zero traffic, very few tourists, great food and weather.
