Harking back to Alfa 33s for a minute, they did build a AWD sedan version with the last 16V models with the different front grille and tail section. It's called a Permanent 4. Mechanic we use for my Alfa and the 365 had one in his shop last week and there are a couple around the place. Any other Alfa questions people need answered?
Very funny Waz. Of course, RENSCs never corrode in any way I gather But (a little) seriously, the rust issue didn't really come into play until the 1970s with that wonderful deal they did with the Russians for some of their quality steel...before that they not really any different from any English car...whoops...I might have to rethink that arguement...
You chop out everything between the bumpers, and then replace the bumpers too.... I had the last carb 33..... Fantastic little car. Crap gear change though. I spun it in deep snow doing Scando flicks, but got away with it.
the early one's like mine do. i can hear them rusting away in the garage at night. porsche went the other way - in the late 70's they started galvanising everything but i dont have anything that new.
same with fiat/lancia/etc... except i've found it doesn't affect aussie delivered cars until 1980. the 80-84 cars are held together by oxide molecules, but pre-80 seems good. in fact most still-good-quality italian consumer-cars are from the 70's, and the 80's one's are just disgraceful.
yeah, where is the ALFA G1 currently ? I had a very close and personal meeting with that car when it belonged to Ross Flewell-Smith (he and I worked on F-111Cs at the time) (sorry, I'm suppose to be working but am waiting for a 40mb download )
Ah - the Alfa G1 - that's an easy question! Saw it at Pebble Beach last year. Now owned by Neville "croaky' Crichton (spelling?) who is the boss of ATECO, the Australian importers & distributors of Alfa, Ferrari and KIA amongst other leading marques I have a few pics of it somewhere here.
don't you watch the WRC? I think the basic theory is to "flick" the car away from the corner and then back (to unsettle it) to induce some sort of slide/drift through the corner....something like that.
That would be a nice car if fitted with the 16v 1.7ie engine... I cannot recall them over this side of the country.. I had a neighbour with the wagon version though... engine survived 300,000km.. body didnt Gotta love that rustini
Me too, but in Interlagos Blue.....and this Arnage. Nothing fancy lately unfortunately. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
